On the initiative of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, 2021 was held under the auspices of the Year of Science and Technology. For this year, on the basis of the BSTU im. V.G. Shukhov hosted more than a thousand scientific events. All of them were aimed at different audiences: schoolchildren, applicants, students, the scientific community, young scientists and society as a whole. The first laboratory session took place between BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov and the University of Latakia, the lesson was held under the guidance of the head of the department of building materials science, products and structures, Dr. Tech. Sciences, Professor Valery Lesovik.

Chairman of the Council of Rectors of Universities of the Belgorod Region, Rector of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhova, professor S.N. Glagolev held the final meeting of the Council of Rectors of the region. The heads of Belgorod universities gathered at the Belgorod State Institute of Arts and Culture to sum up the results of the outgoing year, talk about pressing problems and outline plans for the coming year.

Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov and the Gubkinsky spiritual and educational center "Transformation", organized tourist trips for foreign students as part of the program to reduce interethnic and interfaith tensions "Maximum socio-cultural adaptation of foreign citizens (students) living in the Belgorod region."

Scientists of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov took part in the VIII Annual National Exhibition "VUZPROMEXPO-2021", which was held from 8 to 10 December in Sochi at the site of the Park of Science and Arts "Sirius". The main purpose of the exhibition was to identify the prospects for the further development of cooperation between business, universities and scientific institutions in terms of bringing developments to their industrial implementation and commercialization.

The results of the annual competition for the scholarship of the Mayor of Belgorod among young people participating in environmental activities have been summed up.

In Sevastopol, a three-day multi-format marathon for representatives of student media "Mind Games" based on the Year of Science and Technology has come to an end. The organizer was the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the event was held on the basis of the Sevastopol State University (SevSU).

In order to encourage students and graduate students of educational institutions of higher education located on the territory of the Belgorod Region to conduct scientific research aimed at the economic and social development of the Belgorod Region, in November 2021, a competition was held for applications for grants to conduct research in priority areas of development of science and technology. and critical technologies for students and graduate students of educational institutions of higher education located in the Belgorod region.

The importance of the socio-humanitarian component in the development of technology is growing. This is what the Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov drew attention to at the congress of young scientists, which is taking place in Sochi: “Technologies are increasingly affecting a person, changing his place in society and the relationship between people. When we talk about technology, we often mean natural science or technical knowledge and to a lesser extent think about the socio-humanitarian component, which is becoming increasingly important today. For example, when implementing the Federal Scientific and Technical Program for the Development of Genetic Technologies, we face questions not only of genomic editing, selection, and so on, but also questions of ethics, morality and legal regulation, ”the head of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science emphasized.
