Sport

University administration pays a lot of attention to the development of student sport. Developing great sport infrastructure is unconditional recognition of such attention. Today there are a modern stadium, three sport arenas, sports grounds, tennis courts, an athletes training hall, a shooting gallery, a chess club, a weightlifting field, a beach sports field, an ice rink, a rehabilitation center, RLD (Ready for Labour and Defence) standards exam field, a sports complex with two swimming pools. Two sport arenas, a shooting gallery, a stadium and a swimming pool are entered the national register of sports facilities. 

There are 35 sport classes and groups in 30 sports, where 1500 full-time students are engaged.

BSTU students have the opportunity not only to get a good engineering education, but also to continue improving their sports skills, training under the guidance of experienced coaches.

Currently, the university teaches: 1 — "Merited Master of Sport of Russia", 4 students — "Master of Sport of Russia, International class", more than 50 students — "Master of Sport of Russia", and 260 students — candidates of master of sport in various sports

Best teams and sportsmen:

Yevgeny Tishchenko (PhD.) is "Merited Master of Sport of Russia" in boxing, champion of the World University Games, European Champion, World Champion 2015, competed in the Olympic Games.

Vadim Nemkov (student of IEM) is "Master of Sport of Russia, International Class" in Combat Sambo,two-time World Champion 2014, 2015. 

Anastasia Beluchenko (student of IITCS) is "Master of Sport of Russia, International Class" in kickboxing,two-time World Champion in 2015.

Yevgenia Poletova (MSc student of ACI) is "Master of Sport of Russia, International class" in kickboxing,multiple World Cup kickboxing winner, Silver Medal in the World Championship,Russian Champion 2013–2015.

Gugaev Oleg (student of TTI) — "Master of Sport of Russia, International class" in kickboxing,prize-winner of the Russian and international championships and competitions 2014, 2015.

Dyachkov Oleg (IEM student) is Master of Sport of Russia in kettlebell lifting, multiple champion of the Russian Federation, Silver Medal in the World Championship 2015, two-time European champion 2015 and 2016.

Daria Korobeinik (IBMSTS) is "Master of Sport of Russia" in sport orienteering, multiple prize-winner of the Russian Championships, prize-winner of the European Championship.

Neklyudov Igor (MSc student) is "Master of Sport of Russia" in handball, a member of the Russian national team, winner of the European Champions Cup in beach handball in 2014, a multiple prize-winner of the Russian championship.

Vinokur Constantine (ACI student) is "Master of Sport of Russia" in handball, a member of the Russian national team, winner of the European Champions Cup in beach handball in 2015, multiple prize-winner of the Russian Federation championships.

Zadorozhny Nikita (IME student) and Chetverikov Boris (student of CTI) is "Masters of Sport of Russia" in handball, members of the youth national team, European champions in beach handball in 2015, multiple prize-winners of the championships of the Russian Federation.

The university handball team (chief coach Sergey I. Kramskoy, Honored Worker of Physical Education of the Russian Federation, senior trainer Sergey I. Yarkovoy — Honored coach of Russia)are eight-time winners of the Cup of Russia and five-time winners of the national beach handball championship. Prize-winners of the Russian Handball Championship among men's teams of the Premier league. 36 handball players were awarded the sport title "Master of Sport of Russia". Six BSTU students as part of the national youth team have silver medal of the European Championship.Multiple winners of the Youth Russian Beach Handball Championship.

The University kickboxing team  (coach Alexey A.Yarmak, Master of Sport of Russia) are winners of national tournaments, prize-winners of  Students Championships of Russia.

Volleyball team (men)  (coach Evgeny V. Durykhin) are winners of the CFD University Cup; In 2011 the team won the championship of the student volleyball league of the first division, has silver medal of the national Summer University Games of the Central Federal District, multiple champions and prize-winners of regional competitions.

The university chess team (coach Alexander Koroviansky) are multiple winners of Belgorod region University Games.

University rifle shooting team (coach — Honored coach of Russia Alexander S. Krivtsov) are the winners of the Russian, regional and city Championships.

Mini-football team (coaches: Viktor V. Kravtsov, Honored worker in Physical Education, V.G. Dmitrienko, A.S. Grachev) are multiple winners of the CFD University Cup, winners of city and regional championships and tournaments, five-time winners of the Belgorod region University Games.

The basketball team (the chief coach Igor A. Savkin, the Honored worker of Physical Education) are the multiple champions of the Belgorod region University Games, they have the bronze medal of the championship of the CFD University Cup, take part in the championship of the Student Basketball Association and other prestigious competitions.

The University Kettlebell lifting team (coach Alexander P. Malkov, Master of Sport of Russia, International Class) are prize-winners of the European and World Championships, multiple champions of regional competitions and participants of national competitions. BSTU  kettlelifters are one of the best in the Belgorod region and among the athletes of the Russian Construction Universities Association, they are the winners of the Belgorod region University Games.

The athletics team (coaches Igor A. Kulikov and Gennadiy A. Kopeikin, Honored Teacher of the Russian Federation) are winners of the CFD championship in the relay race, multiple winners of the Belgorod region championship, the Belgorod autumn and spring  track and field race, participants of the international cross "Nation."

The university skiing team (coach Sergey A. Voskovsky) are the winners in the individual classification of the international ski race at the distance of 10 km and 5 km. More than 50 athletes take part in the competitions of "Ski Track Russia." Winner the Belgorod region University Games.

The university volleyball team (women) (chief coach Raisa F. Popova, Honored coach of Russia, other coaches — Alexandra P. Korukovets — Honored Master of Sport, Svetlana Eremina — Master of Sport of Russia) are prize-winners of the Russian Championship among teams of the first League, participants of the Russian Construction Universities Association, the winner of Belgorod region University Games.

Recently, the university began to pay great attention to the inclusion of new sports, such as water polo, artistic swimming, etc.

BSTU is multiple winner of the national competition "Healthy Lifestyle University."

The swimming and water polo teams are trained by high achiever of physical education of Russia Sergey I. Dremov.

• Lyudmila Nuzhnikh (ACI) is Master of Sport of Russia, International class in weight-lifting, Russian and world champion.
• Nosulenko Yuri (IME) is Honored Master of Sport in Athletics (Paralympics team), winner of the international tournaments in Germany, two-time World Champion.
• Sergey Chursin is Master of Sport of Russia in kickboxing, prize-winner of Russian Championships.
• Ivan Kabatov (ACI) is Master of Sport of Russia in boxing, a multiple winner of international tournaments, a participant in the World Boxing Championship.
• Sergei Nesterov is Master of Sport of Russia in athletics, the champion of Russia in junior league, a member of the junior national team.

A large number of competitions, such as national tournaments, Cups, Championships in various sports, University Games, Spartakiades of the Belgorod region, the intrauniversity annual Spartakiade with participants from all Institutes in 14 sports, the Student Sports Festival, the first national Ready for Labor and Defense Festival, etc. are held in the BSTU.

In the beginning of academic year students are assigned to the sports training departments: basic, special and athletic. The assignment is based on gender, health (medical history), physical condition and student interests.

The sport training is mentored by the professional staff of the sport department and carried out at sport facilities of the BSTU from 8.15 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. After the academic year, training sessions are until 10.30 p.m.

BSTU is successfully implementing the regional program "Development of Physical Education for 2015–2018" and the Federal Target Program "Development of Physical Education and Sport in the Russian Federation for 2008–2017". For two years BSTU is a laureate of the national competition "Healthy Lifestyle University". In 2013 the University Department of Physical Education and Sport became a laureate in the nomination "Best Physical Education and Sport Organization" and has its place on the Belgorod Wall of Honor.
