Founded in 1979, immediately after the completion of construction of the main academic building, for 35 years of its existence, the museum has replenished the fund with hundreds of documents and currently its fund possesses 3,700 various exhibits depicting the life and activities of the university representatives and achievements. The core area in the activity of BSTU museum is given to bringing up the younger generation in the ideas of civil responsibility and patriotic values. Theme exhibitions are listed among MEC attractions. Specific displays are dedicated to particular military events, Orthodox holidays, engineering education, family ideals, the Russian language or youth problems

Preparatory faculty for foreign students regularly provides a variety of events, dedicated to Russian history and culture. On March 21 the Students Art Centre for the first time held a competition "Miss and Mister Institute of Economics and Management-2014". Four creative couples were fighting for the title, each of them students of the Institute of Economics and Management. The most honorable title of "Miss & Mister IEM- 2014" was awarded to students Fatoumata Mukelabai and Clive Piri from Zambia.

A meeting of Rectors Commission on International Cooperation in Belgorod region took place recently. The representatives of higher educational institutions in our region were unanimous to admit that today Belgorodia can compete with many universities in the Russian capital city.

On March 14, 2014 the Students Art Centre became a venue of a theme night "Noble Gentlemen and Fair Ladies" arranged by the faculty staff of preparatory faculty of foreign students at Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov. This traditional event is held to encourage foreigners’ interest to Russian language learning and to the Russian culture, as it is well known, that without knowing the culture, language learning is impossible.

On March 12, 2014 the Students art Centre hosted a contest "Talents and Admirers" dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov. The tradition of holding the concert program, in which both staff members and students take equal part.

The recent annual contest "Miss University - 2014" On March 6, 2014 the Concert Hall of the Students’ Art Centre at BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov held the most entertaining and memorable competition. Foreign Students Association was represented by a Zambian student.

Tolerance and cross cultural communication were the topic of a "round table"discusion at Belgorod State Institute of Art and Culture. Participants of the meeting were university students in Belgorod, both Russian and foreign - representatives from over 20 countries in the world.

Turkmen students organized a theme night dedicated to the celebration of National Flag Day. The Russian and international visitors had a unique opportunity to see Turkmen national dance, listen to music played on a musical instrument - dutar.

17 the Students Art Centre hosted a memorial night "the Sun of Russian poetry". The event brought together young gentlemen and ladies enrolled in the preparatory faculty for foreign citizens.
