International Cooperation in Action
A meeting of Rectors Commission on International Cooperation in Belgorod region took place recently.
Members of the commission had to consider the following agenda:
1. Internationalization of education in Belgorod University of Cooperation, Economics and Law. The report was presented by the Head of International Relations, Belgorod University of Cooperation, Economics and Law Nikolai Tikhonovich.
2. Internationalization of education as a factor in increasing the efficiency of international activities at Belgorod State University." The report on this issue was made by Inna Koskova, department head for development and support of international activities at International Relations Division, at Belgorod State University".
3. The participants of the meeting had a round table discussion on various aspects of internationalization in higher education institutions of Belgorod region, bringing together all interested parties involved in this important area.

Today internationalization in relation to education is considered as one of the modern trends in the development of higher education and includes a variety of international aspects in research, academic and administrative activities of educational institutions at various levels.
Internationalization process involves the recruitment of foreign students, arranging exchange programs, individual student mobility, training in foreign universities, joint research programs, etc.
Successful addressing internationalization issues by an individual educational institution depends on close cooperation between an international department and administration, faculty staff and heads of educational institutions, departments and faculties.
At the same time the internationalization process at an educational institution depends on its features and must should conform to the mission of an educational institution, its labor and financial resources , material and technical facilities, scientific potential, number of students, other major components of the strategic development plan of an educational institution .
Commission members - representatives of universities in Belgorod region willingly shared their own experiences with colleagues, talked about the work carried out at the universities they represent. For example, the dean of the preparatory faculty for foreign citizens at Belgorod Shukhov State Technological University Elena Legochkina noted that international activities should be expanded and applicants carefully selected. According to Elena Nikolaevna foundation courses serve as a "filter" to do the job.
In addition, director of the Center for International Education and Cooperation at BSTU Evgeniy Kapustin brought to the commission’s attention the fact that BSTU geography is constantly expanding, mutually beneficial cooperation with foreign countries - Poland, Serbia has been established. Our students actively go for internships in France, Italy and other countries abroad. Our faculty members successfully teach Russian language in China. There is the idea of bringing foreign students to distance learning.

All those present at the meeting of representatives of higher educational institutions in our region were unanimous in saying that today Belgorodia is an example even for many universities in the capital city. The quality of education is much higher. Prepared by Valentina Nosacheva
