Turkmenistan National Flag Day at BSTU
Turkmen students organized a theme night dedicated to the celebration of National Flag Day. The Russian and international visitors had a unique opportunity to see Turkmen national dance, listen to music played on a musical instrument - dutar.
During the evening the Turkmen students were told that a national holiday - Flag Day is celebrated on February 19. The state flag for Turkmen youth is a symbol of undying fame of many generations, who have made a worthy contribution to strengthening the power of the Fatherland , its international prestige , honest work to preserve and enhance the country's wealth. Turkmenistan flag incorporates the age-old dream of the Turkmen people of a free, independent Motherland. It is the symbol of inviolable principles of state sovereignty and spirituality of the nation, special mentality of the people, love of peace, humanity and benevolence .
National flag symbolizes unity, solidarity and brotherhood. Turkmen flag is of green color with vertical red and burgundy stripe on which there are five national carpet designs with a white crescent and five stars.
Using green is not accidental, it was used in the banner of the great Seljuk sultans in the Middle Ages on the territory of modern Turkmenistan. Green color symbolizes the unity of time, life and the earth. The crescent represents sky, white five-pointed stars symbolizes five regions of this Caspian country. .
