In 2016, under the aegis of the Association of Student Basketball in Russia, an elite division was established - the student league of VTB. The league relies on high organizational standards that correspond to the best domestic and foreign practices. Teams and players have already become brands of regional and national scale.

Engineering and racing team «Shukhov Racing Team» of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov presented the first off-road car «buggy» - «Technolog-1», as well as the fourth racing car of Formula SAE class «SHARK». First vice-rector, Professor Nikolay Shapovalov opened a press conference organized at the Technological University for media representatives.

The meeting of the Academic Council of 2017-2018 academic year was held at the regional flagship university.

For many years BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov is successfully provides training in Russian to foreign citizens, including student’s youth and lecturers of foreign universities.

International competition-festival of arts «At the crest of a wave» was held in the Crimea. The vocal band «Music of Happiness» under the direction of the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Olga Tsymbalist represented Belgorod at the contest and the flagship university of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov.

The Student Palace of Culture hosted the closing ceremony of the Universiade This year, competitions were held in seven sports in nine sports disciplines. More than one and a half thousand students from 66 universities and 37 subjects of the Russian Federation took part.

On July 4 the project «School of Volunteers BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov» launched in a solemn atmosphere at the flagship university of the Belgorod region.

The third stage of the championship in the military-sports test «Path of Power» was held at the recreation center of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov in the Borisovka district. This time the competitions were timed to coincide with the 300th anniversary of the Russian police.

The fifth recruitment in specialized classes of the architectural field of the flagship university was held at the secondary school № 49 in Belgorod.

On the square near the monument dedicated to the students' brigades of the Belgorod region at the branch of «MTSK-Center – Belgorodenergo» the solemn opening of the labor semester took place.
