The project on nanostructured concrete became the best at the scientific and technological program "Great Challenges"
Twenty-one days, 400 gifted schoolchildren from all over the country conducted research, experiments, and learned to present their projects at the Sirius Educational Center. The children were preliminarily selected to get to Sochi on the scientific and technological program "Great Challenges". The students got the opportunity to choose the projects of different universities.
The freshmen labor semester has started
Traditionally enrolled applicants undergo a two-week labor practice under the motto "Your house with your own hands" at the flagship university of the Belgorod region. A solemn meeting in honor of the opening of the labor semester took place on 7 August at the university square.

On August 3, on the eve of the City Day of Belgorod, the regional center hosted the opening of the renewed Hall of Fame. The ceremony was attended by the rector of the university, Professor Sergey Glagolev, representatives of the student associations of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov, the trade-union organization, heads and employees of structural divisions of the university.

The employee of the flagship university Andrey Lyutenko, as a team member of the 20 alpinists from Belgorod region - professionals and amateurs, successfully completed the ascent to the highest mountain of the Caucasian mountain range Elbrus (5642 meters).
The technical vision system with neural network recognition was tested at the university
The systems development of image recognition is carried out at the department of technical cybernetics of the flagship university – BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov within a period of about two years. Currently, three projects are being implemented: "Analysis of the traffic situation", "Monitoring of number of students", "Detecting of roof defects".
