Representative of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov conquered Elbrus
The employee of the flagship university Andrey Lyutenko, as a team member of the 20 alpinists from Belgorod region - professionals and amateurs, successfully completed the ascent to the highest mountain of the Caucasian mountain range Elbrus (5642 meters).
The team included representatives of business, deputy corps, employees of the administration of Belgorod. The group was headed by the president of the Belgorod Federation of Mountaineering and Climbing, a graduate of the University Sergey Shevchenko.
The representative of the university dedicated his ascension to the highest peak of Russia and Europe on the anniversary date - the 165th anniversary of the birth of Vladimir Grigoryevich Shukhov, a scientist whose name, already 15 years old, is borne by the university. And the whole group dedicated its high-altitude victory to the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Kursk and the liberation of the city of Belgorod from the Nazi invaders in 1943.
Andrei Lutenko wrote on his page in Facebook: "... Elbrus is subdued by Belgorod citizens))) It was not easy, it was cold, we felt ourselves hungry, it was snowing and a strong wind was blowing, but we did it! ... Elbrus will stay in our hearts forever".
