Visit of the Representative of Angola
On June 9, 2010, received Ruth Da Conceсaio Sequeira Da Silva, head of the Department of students affairs of the Embassy of the Republic of Angola in Russian Federation arrived on a visit to Belgorod state technological university named after V.G. Shukhov.
The main purpose of her visit was stated by Ms. Ruth Da Concecaio Sequeira Da Silva as follows: “We are willing to extend and consolidate the interaction with your university. I have arrived to get familiarized with BSTU opportunities. I would like to know about the material base and the teaching level, security and accommodation issues. At present 13 students, citizens of the Republic of Angola are taking courses at BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov. Our government is interested in greater number of students, studying in Belgorod, as we have urgent demand for highly-qualified engineers, especially for construction industry, information technologies etc.”
Talking about her first impressions Ms. Ruth Da Conceсaio Sequeira Da Silva expressed the most positive emotions after the first acquaintance with the university.
The head of the Department of students affairs had a meeting with prof. V.S. Lesovik, the first vice-chancellor on research, innovative and international activities of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov. Valery Stanislavovich told the visitor about cooperation opportunities both in academic and research fields. Ms. Ruth Da Conceсaio Sequeira Da Silva expressed her particular interest to distance learning technologies for training international students and also to the university activity in the area of establishing research consortiums.
After that the representative of Angola had a tour of the university, in the course of which she saw the security systems, visited the section of nanotechnologies in building materials science, the museum, the exhibition centre, sport facilities and the new dormitory, which is being constructed to accommodate international students.
In the afternoon the representative of the Republic of Angola met the citizens of her country, who are studying at BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov. During the meeting she showed special interest to the problems the students face in their studies and everyday life. In conclusion she wished the students successful studies, acquiring knowledge to the benefit of their home country.
In the evening Ms. Ruth Da Conceсaio Sequeira Da Silva could appreciate the local places of interest.
