Visit of delegation of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq
On November 11 the delegation of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq, consisting of the Cultural Attache of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq Dr. Hussain Tuayma Muttair and deputy cultural attache Abdeldzhalil Yasin.
By tradition, the guests laid flowers at the monument to V.G. Shukhov, and then met with university Chancellor Prof. S.N. Glagolev. Sergey Nikolaevich warmly welcomed the guests, noting that even the weather is favorable for this visit, because the first snow fell on that day, which, according to popular wisdom brings good luck.
Dr. Tuayma Muttair Hussein said that this time they brought "not only snow but also a number of interesting proposals on cooperation." Noting the significant contribution made by Sergei Nikolayevich into the development of bilateral relations, the representative of the Iraqi side extended greetings from the Minister of Education of the Republic of Iraq to the entire staff of the university, headed by the Chancellor, as well as a letter of intent on cooperation with the first university in Iraq.
During the meeting they discussed the main directions of cooperation in science, education and culture.
We remind, that the Republic of Iraq and our university have been linked by diverse relationship. The country suffered from the war has the urgent need for qualified personnel to ensure economic recovery and development, construction and industry. And its government in its policy relies on improving the educational level of the citizens. And therefore the choice of the representatives of the Arab countries in favor of our University testifies to high estimation from the Arab world. Higher professional education of citizens of Iraq in Russia, will help in implementing the most ambitious state plans.
The Cultural attache also said that this year the Iraqi government sent 20,000 students to study abroad. One hundred of them will be sent for training to BSTU V.G. Shukhov.
"Today we are building a new Iraq. And have high hopes that with the help of your university we’ll successfully cope with this problem. "
This visit is a logical continuation of cooperation with Iraq in the field of education. The agreement on cooperation with the Ministry of Education of Iraq has been signed recently. The university was visited by a large delegation of teachers in Iraq. Earlier, the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the Russian Federation had also visited the University.
Today’s program is going to be eventful and interesting. The visitors will meet
the faculty members, will have a tour of Belgorod, attend the opening ceremony of the club to study the Arabic language and culture "Arabian fairy tale." The next day, the guests are planning to visit the military memorial complex "The third Battle field of Russia" in the town of Prokhorovka.
