Press conference with the Serbian Delegation
BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov held a press conference in with the representatives of the Delegation of the University of Pristina (Serbia).
The Serbian delegation represented by the University Rector Prof. Dr. Zdravko Vitoshevich, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Doctor, Professor Srecko Milachech, Dean of the Faculty of Education Professor, Dr. Radivoje Kulich, general secretary of the association of graduates of Russian and Soviet universities of Serbia and Montenegro Petar Paykovich, professor of the Faculty of Education, Master of Science Raisa Tsvetkovich.
On behalf of BSTU the press conference was attended by the First Vice-Chancellor, Professor N.A. Shapovalov, Vice-Rector for International Relations, Professor R.V. Lesovik, director of the Center for International Education and Cooperation, Ph.D. E.V. Kapustin.
Our university maintains long-term and friendly relations with the universities in Serbia, particularly it has established business and cultural ties with the University of Nis.
According to Prof. Dr. Zdravko Vitoshevich the University of Pristina has wide connections with the leading universities of the Russian Federation: Moscow State Lomonosov University, the Russian Economic Plekhanov University. Cooperation with BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov is going to be another step to promote international cooperation and academic mobility as well as the quality of educational and scientific activities.
When asked what had attracted the attention of Serbian colleagues in our university, the rector of Pristina University said: "High professionalism of the academic staff, high quality of education at a university ... This interaction is particularly important in the transition period to the educational system of the Bologna Process being experienced by the Russian and Serbian universities. We are expecting an intergovernmental agreement to be signed in the near future between the Ministers of Education of the two countries. The agreement will contain provisions concerning the mutual recognition of graduation documents between the two countries (diploma obtained in Serbia, will be recognized in Russia, and Russian one in Serbia). For the young people of both countries there is the ability to communicate with each other. For our part we will try to include your institution in the programs funded by the European Union. In my opinion, this cooperation will strengthen the whole of European education "said Zdravko Vitoshevich on completion to his speech.
The guests shared the problems the Serbian university faced in connection with ongoing Balkan political developments.
Assessing the significance of signing the agreement and the visit of the delegation of the University of Pristina, the first Vice-Chancellor, Doctor of Technical Sciences, professor N.A. Shapovalov said: "This is a major institution in Serbia. It has enrolled 11,000 students in various fields: the sciences and humanities, medicine, transportation, sociology, energy. The cooperation with Serbian colleagues will include students’ exchange, training of the academic staff, joint research projects, participation in international conferences and publications, the implementation of various projects and programs.
During the press conference, journalists were able to ask questions: "Will the students learn Serbian BSTU. Shukhov? "," In what experts today's economy needs to Serbia? "," How the unstable political situation affects the educational and training process at the university? "," What is the material-technical base has a university? ".
Enthusiastically about the activities of the university rector told the Pristina University. Journalists found that 70% of high school students are taught free of charge. The state not only pays for their education, but also hostel accommodation, meals in the dining rooms. In addition, the Serbian students have significant benefits when visiting cultural and sports activities, transport use and laboratories of other institutions.
