Festival Our Home is Planet Earth
At BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov hosted the XIV International Student Festival "Our Home is Planet Earth". On May 12, students from Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe demonstrated their talents on the stage of the Student Palace of Culture. Traditionally, the festival was attended by foreign students of Belgorod universities, which have preparatory faculties for foreign citizens. The guests of the holiday got acquainted with the national color of different countries and plunged into the atmosphere of creativity, friendship and positive. “The festival is aimed at uniting students, showing how diverse our cultures are, but we are still together,” said Ksenia Pozdnyakova, Deputy Dean for Cultural and Educational Work of the Preparatory Faculty for Foreign Citizens of the Belarusian State Technical University. V.G. Shukhov. Bright colors, music, smiles and creativity. People from different parts of our planet gathered in the hall of the Student Palace of Culture. They speak different languages, but all of them are united by love and interest in Russian culture. The solemn part began with the awarding of the winners of the Olympiads in Russian as a foreign language and in the culture of speech. The highlight of the festival was the display of national clothes. This year, the international holiday of friendship was held for the 14th time. Entering the stage in folk costumes from different countries has long become a traditional and favorite number of the concert program. Angola, Afghanistan, Zambia, Ghana, Haiti, Egypt, Yemen, Cameroon, Nigeria, Morocco, Serbia, Somalia, Ecuador - in a few minutes of the defile, the festival guests seemed to have been on an impromptu journey through countries and continents. Models proudly demonstrated national costumes and flags of their countries, and each appearance on the stage met with enthusiastic support from the audience. “As a student of Technology, I like to perform for this university and participate in various events.
A lot is done here for students to make it interesting to live and study,” said Fuad Allababseh, a student from Jordan. The journey to different parts of the Earth continued in creative performances. The first stop was hospitable Russia, a place where students from different countries met and found a second home. Foreign students expressed their love for the Russian language and culture in Russian songs and melodies, from hits to the popularly beloved Katyusha. Through music and dance, foreign students talked about their native places, traditions and flavor of their homeland. The audience learned how they dance in Serbia and Afghanistan, enjoyed oriental dances and graceful salsa from Latin America, plunged into the incendiary rhythms of African countries. The powerful energy of the international holiday spilled into the auditorium, where support groups warmly greeted every appearance of the festival participants on the stage. But even after the end of the holiday, the students were in no hurry to disperse - they took photos as a keepsake and shared their impressions.
The continuation of the festival was an exhibition of national cultures, which took place on the university square on May 17. On it, the guests of the holiday could see national costumes, folk musical instruments, ritual masks and totems, products of folk craftsmen from around the world. The exhibition was visited by a delegation from Egypt and the rector of the university Sergey Glagolev. Honored guests took part in the celebration with pleasure. Foreign students prepared a dance program and treated everyone to the traditional dishes of their countries. More than 2,000 foreign students from 80 countries study at Technologist. Such international holidays are held at Shukhov University several times a year. Their main task is to introduce and make friends representatives of different cultures and fill the life of foreign students with creativity and positive.
