BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov is expanding business ties with Sultan Qaboos University
On October 11, 2011 in Moscow professor Ali Said Al-Bemani, the Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University, located in Mascat, the Capital of the Sultanate of Oman met the heads of the most prestigious educational institutions in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Representatives of Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov – Professor Yaser Allaham, rector’s advisor on international affairs and professor R.V. Lesovik, vice-rector on International activity.
The delegation from Oman has arrived in Russia to establish contacts with Russian scientists and cooperation in the area of research and education. Therefore the visitors were interested in special requirements for post graduate studies, master and bachelor degree courses, students and academic staff participation in joint scientific events.
We remind that our university management is familiar with Sultan Quaboos University. BSTU delegation was twice on a visit to this university and had the opportunity to appreciate the students academic level. «We were surprised by outstanding technical facilities at the University and its high level», - says prof. Yaser Allaham. Sultan Qaboos University was founded in 1986 by the Royal decree of the Sultan of Oman and at present it is the only state funded educational institution, training nearly 16 thousand students. The University incorporates 9 faculties и 9 research centres.
High visitors from the Sultanate of Oman have been on a visit to BSTU several times. Owing to close cooperation with the country BSTU has enrolled 16 students from Oman. And in the near future 20 students from Oman are expected to come for tuition.
The meeting in Moscow resulted in the invitation to BSTU scientists to deliver lectures at Sultan Qaboos University. The events are scheduled for December 2011.
