International Cement Congress and Innovation Conference
On October 11 the concert hall of Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov hosted the opening ceremony and the plenary session of the International Scientific Conference "Innovative Materials and Technologies" (XX Shukhov scientific readings) and the IVth International Congress of Cement Producers.
The welcoming address was made by BSTU Chancellor, Doctor of economics, Professor S.N. Glagolev, stressing the importance of the conference. He stressed that among the organizers of the event were the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, Ministry of Regional Development, the State Duma Committee on Construction and Land Affairs, the State Duma Committee on Natural Resources, Nature Management and Ecology, Council of Federation Commission on Housing policy and urban affairs, Russian Academy of Architecture and Building Sciences, the National Association of Builders; Committee NOSTRO on building materials, products and designs, JSC "RUSNANO", the Government of Belgorod region, Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov.
For the fourth time BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov became the venue for the International Congress of Cement Producers. And it is natural, that BSTU is a recognized leader in specialists training for the construction industry in Russia. Developments of our scientists are widely used in the cement industry. University graduates are well proven in the cement plants are not only in Russia but throughout the entire area of the former Soviet Union.
The International Cement Congress at BSTU brought together the representatives of the world major manufacturers of cement, equipment and machinery - Eurocement Group, "Heidelberg Cement Rus", "Cemengal", "Claudius Peters", "Mellers," JSC «Zeppelin Rusland" , “Fritz & Maczoil” and others. All they hope to establish mutually beneficial contacts, experience exchange, jointly solve similar problems of the industry.
In many respects it was due to the International Congress of Cement the university departments have developed close links with companies and invite those whom they had already met during the previous Congresses.
Opening the plenary session of Congress, vice president of marketing of the Union of Russia, a representative of the European Technology Institute (Moscow), M.E. Shmatov warmly welcomed the participants of the International Forum, stressing that it is a good opportunity to talk about their everyday concerns, to discuss topical industry issues. Maxim Shmatov expressed confidence that Congress will contribute to the consolidation of cement producers, will help to address specific issues.
During the plenary sessions the speakers focused their attention on innovative approaches to the process in the cement industry. The reports submitted were chosen so as to help the cement industry achieve efficient results in the production.
At the first plenary session the report by G.Y. Vasilik, representing CEMENT Research Institute (Moscow), found enormous feedback. The report was focused on the prospects for the development of cement industry till 2020. Gregory Vasilik spoke on the problems of domestic cement industry, and ways to address them. The reports prepared by the representatives of the companies “Cemengal " " Innovative solutions to upgrade cement plants, packaging company “Haver and Becker Holding GmbH "," Options for arranging equipment for cement packaging "and others were of no less interest. Representatives of different companies have expressed the joint opinion that such events should be more frequent.
The Congress also included a workshop for logistics services, IT professionals and sales department "Automation of data center services and fast delivery systems", "Logistics Management at a cement plant," a workshop for technical directors, heads of laboratories and technicians " Achieving the required quality criteria for the cement". A roundtable discussion was held for the students and young professionals on the topics: "Tomorrow starts today", "What a cement plant and its specialists will be like?"
In an interview with our correspondent, Maxim Shmatov expressed his firm conviction that the discussions that took place in the Congress will help the industry to operate more efficiently with lower production costs.
Congress has once again demonstrated that BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov has done its best with the arrangements and holding of an international event.
