Center of Russian language and culture named after Vladimir Shukhov will be set up in Syria
A unique historical event took place in the Syrian city of Latakia, which is of great importance not only for the spread of the Russian language and the national culture of Russia, but also for the possibility of fruitful interaction and operational mutual assistance between the two countries. On the basis of the Al-Munir school, a solemn ceremony of laying a memorial stone was held, on the site of which the construction of the Center for Russian Language and Culture has already begun. The Educational Center will be named after the outstanding scientist and inventor, the great architect Vladimir Shukhov. The list of educational organizations for the joint construction of the Center in Syria includes such universities as: Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN), Moscow Automobile and Highway State Technical University (MADI), Moscow State Technological University "STANKIN", Sevastopol State University (SevGU), Crimean Federal University named after Vernadsky (Kazan Federal University named after V.I. Vernadsky) and Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov (BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov).
Each of the presented universities has vast experience in international activities, and participation in the construction of the center will allow them to make their undeniable contribution to the development of education in Syria. For several days, representatives of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and employees of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhova actively interacted with the Syrian authorities, as well as with the Minister of Education, Head of the Road Administration, Rector of Tishrin University, I especially want to note that they are all successful graduates of Russian universities. “Our university is actively involved in the dissemination and popularization of the Russian language and culture. Our centers operate in Morocco, Serbia and China. Love for the country begins with love for the language, so we are working to make it interesting for foreigners to learn Russian, and they come to study in Russia, ”emphasized Ruslan Lesovik, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov. The Syrian side took over the financial part of the construction of the Center, and BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov will guide teachers and provide literature for the study of the Russian language. In the future, graduates of the Center will be able to study at universities in the Russian Federation.
The center of the Russian language and culture will be located on an area of 50 thousand m. On this site, it is planned to build an educational complex, a hotel, for Russian teachers and for teachers from different cities of Syria, as well as a sports complex and a swimming pool. “One of our main goals is to train competent specialists who, after completing their studies, will return to Syria and will be engaged in the reconstruction of the country, destroyed during the hostilities. Based on this, we set certain tasks for the functioning of the Center for the Russian Language and Culture. Studying at the center will not only improve relations and understanding between countries in cultural terms, but will also reduce, by at least one year, the training of graduates of Syrian schools, which will allow them to enter a university earlier and receive special education, "said Sergei Nikolaevich, rector of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov.
The solemn ceremony of laying the memorial stone was attended by representatives of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Glagolev Sergei Nikolaevich Rector of the flagship university, Lesovik Ruslan Valerievich Vice-Rector for International Affairs and Allaham Yasser Seyfiddin Deputy Director of the Center for International Education and Cooperation of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov. The Arab side was attended by the Governor of Latakia, Ibrahim Khalil al-Khader and the director of the school, Al Munir Ahed Aslan. Also, within the framework of the event, a cooperation agreement was signed with BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov with Tishrin University. The parties agreed to open a representative office of the International Scientific and Educational Center of BSTU named after V.I. V.G. Shukhov "Theory and practice of restoring destroyed cities", which will develop technologies for the production of building materials, based on raw materials obtained from destroyed buildings and structures, with the aim of building housing for Syrian citizens.
