University delegation at the International Educational Forum in Minsk
From 4th to 9th of October, Minsk and Brest hosted the International Educational Forum of Unity of Foreign Graduates of Belarusian (Soviet) Universities and CIS Countries.
The forum was a platform for establishing business contacts for further cooperation between countries in the field of education.
The largest Russian universities, where students from different countries of the world traditionally study, were invited to participate. From BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov was attended by: University Rector Sergei Glagolev, Vice-Rector for International Affairs Ruslan Lesovik and Deputy Head of the Center for International Education and Cooperation Allaham Yasser Seyfiddin.
Representatives of associations of graduates of Soviet and Russian universities, scientists and culture workers, chairmen of non-governmental organizations of the CIS countries discussed ways to increase the efficiency of the alumni associations to strengthen friendship, exchange experience and develop scientific and educational cooperation. Sergey Glagolev, Chairman of the Council of Rectors of Universities of the Belgorod Region, took part in a plenary session on interaction between universities and consolidating the efforts of associations of foreign graduates, institutions of higher education of the Republic of Belarus and the CIS countries in order to improve the quality of training of foreign specialists. At the end of the plenary session, the delegates took part in panel discussions: they discussed the prospects for increasing the international prestige of higher education in modern conditions, exchanged experiences and spoke about their personal vision of the future interaction between countries and universities. Within the framework of the forum, a personal meeting of the rector of the flagship university Sergei Glagolev with the Minister of Education of Belarus Igor Karpenko took place. Sergey Nikolaevich spoke about the activities of the Belgorod State Technological University named after V.I. V.G. Shukhov, and also shared his experience of organizing an international meeting with the delegation of the Union of Arab Universities. In addition, the rector of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov took part in an international meeting, during which the prospects for cooperation between Russian and Belarusian universities and universities in Arab countries were discussed.
The meeting participants were: Secretary General of the Union of Arab Universities Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly Andrei Belyaninov, Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Vladislav Starzhenetsky. During the work at the forum, the delegation of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov, headed by the rector, visited the Great Stone industrial park, which has a special legal regime for doing business. During the visit, the head of the park administration, Alexander Yaroshenko, presented the priority areas of residence and spoke about the system of benefits and preferences for current and future residents, proposed to discuss the investment climate, guaranteed by both national legislation and special international agreements and obligations.
