Ghana Independence Day at BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov
At the Belgorod State Technological University, special attention is paid to the development of international activities. For many years the university has been developing international relations in the field of education, increasing the competitiveness of Russian education.
Over the past five years alone, the number of foreign students of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov increased from 1.4 thousand to 2 thousand, and the geography of applicants arriving to obtain knowledge expanded to 75 states. One of these states is the Republic of Ghana, which sent 37 people to study at the flagship university of the Belgorod region. March 9 in the foyer of the main building of the BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov, the Independence Day of the Republic of Ghana took place.
It was in 1957 that the country gained independence from Great Britain after a long and fierce struggle for this region by the European colonialists. The country became known as Ghana, wanting to remind of the power and greatness of the ancient African empire south of the Sahara. At the pivotal university of the region, on the Independence Day of the Republic of Ghana, students showed folk costumes and handmade souvenirs. Anyone could look at the exhibited works and find out what they are made of. Such events are designed to better acquaint students with the culture of other countries.
