Student of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov is among the top three holders of the Roscosmos scholarship
By the decision of the commission of the FSBI "Research Institute of the GCTC (GK" Roscosmos "), the owner of a personal scholarship named after Yu.A. Gagarina became Ekaterina Samoilova, Master's student of the Department of Theoretical and Applied Chemistry, BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov.According to the results of the All-Russian competition, three winners were selected who will receive a personal scholarship during the 2020/2021 academic year. Among them is the representative of the flagship university of the Belgorod region - Ekaterina Sergeevna Samoilova.
Scholarships are awarded to undergraduate and graduate students who have achieved particular success in research, inventive, rationalization and practical activities in the field of manned space exploration based on the results of the previous academic year.
Ekaterina Samoilova from the second year is actively engaged in research work under the guidance of Natalya Igorevna Cherkashina, associate professor, senior researcher at the laboratory of space materials science at the Department of Theoretical and Applied Chemistry, BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov. The scientific direction of Ekaterina Samoilova is the development of radiation-protective composites based on polymer track (nuclear) membranes for protection against ionizing radiation of astronauts and radio-electronic equipment in conditions of long-term orbital space flight.
Since 2019, Ekaterina Samoilova has been working as a research laboratory assistant at the Department of Theoretical and Applied Chemistry in the laboratory of space materials science, which is part of the REC "Modern Materials and Technologies of Nuclear Energy, Aviation and Space Engineering" (Head of the Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Honored Inventor of the Russian Federation Pavlenko Vyacheslav Ivanovich).
For the 2019-2020 academic year, the holder of a personal scholarship named after Yu. Gagarina published 10 scientific articles in co-authorship. Of these, 3 works are indexed in the international citation system Scopus, and there is also one KNOW-HOW registration certificate.
