The Council of rectors of universities of the Belgorod region was held
The meeting of the Council of Rectors of the Belgorod Region University was held in a new format with the use of remote technologies. Most of the participants were present in the hall of the Center for High Technologies of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov, the rest took part in the videoconference mode.
The council was attended by:
- Denis Butsaev, First Deputy Governor of the Region,
- Zhuravleva Ekaterina Vasilievna, Deputy Head of the Department of Internal and Personnel Policy of the Region, Head of the Science Department,
- Shapovala Natalya Alekseevna, head of the department of higher education and science of the department of professional education and science of the department of internal and personnel policy of the region
Denis Butsaev, First Deputy Governor of the Belgorod Region, addressed all the participants in the meeting with a welcoming speech. He noted that all universities and institutes are faced with important target tasks to develop the potential of science and the economy of the region.
The issues of the admission campaign at the universities of the Belgorod region and the organization of work in the context of the spread of coronavirus infection were discussed. And if the topic of recruiting applicants is considered by the council every year, then the functioning of educational institutions in a pandemic has raised a number of questions for discussion.
“When deciding to switch to distance learning, universities faced a number of innovations, but at the same time, the situation with the coronavirus helped us to supplement the educational process with new forms of work, to unleash the potential of digitalization of universities,” said Anatoly Mitrofanovich Gridchin, chairman of the council of rectors of universities in the Belgorod region
Ekaterina Zhuravleva, Head of the Science Department, spoke about the results of the campaign in the universities of the Belgorod region in 2020. She noted that 47 456 people study on the territory of the region under the programs of higher education, and more than 450 areas of training and specialties are being implemented in the universities of the region.
“This year, for the first time in the history of the Russian Federation, the admissions campaign took place entirely online. The total number of admissions in 2020 amounted to 16497 people, ”emphasized Ekaterina Vasilievna.
Also, the rectors of the leading Belgorod universities spoke on this issue, who highlighted the features of the admission campaign in 2020 at each university and talked about the results of admission.
Three speakers were heard on the second issue of the agenda "Organization of the work of universities in the context of the spread of coronavirus infection":
- Polukhin Oleg Nikolaevich, Rector of the National Research University BelSU,
- Aleinik Stanislav Nikolaevich, rector of the Belgorod SAU named after V. Ya. Gorin,
- Glagolev Sergei Nikolaevich, rector of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov.
After the meeting of the Council of Rectors, First Deputy Governor of the Belgorod Region Denis Butsaev visited laboratories, engineering centers and technoparks of the Center for High Technologies of the flagship university. Denis Petrovich also noted the good equipment of the stadium and various sports grounds of the university, the uniqueness of the sculpture on the observation deck and the great possibilities of the restored Student Palace of Culture of the BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov.
