This project is joint, it is carried out by the Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov, the Agroacademy company and the Institute of Ecology and Evolution named after A.N. Severtsov RAS.

Within the framework of the scientific and educational center "Innovative solutions in the agro-industrial complex" a project to create the production of animal protein from fly larvae, supported from the federal budget, is being implemented throughout the year.

Much has already been done to implement the project “Creation of high-tech large-scale production of animal protein from fly larvae”. A laboratory for the creation and development of substrates for feeding the larvae of the fly "Hermetia illucens" has been created and is successfully operating on the basis of the region's flagship university. Thanks to this laboratory, it became possible to study the very process of production of forage substrates for the larvae of the Black Lion fly. The feed will be produced from grain raw materials and waste from industrial processing. In addition, the laboratory will help automate the feeding of larvae, maintain their maintenance and subsequent processing.

Scientific activity is also actively advancing: 6 patent applications have been submitted, 5 articles have been prepared for publication in journals indexed in the Scopus and Web of Science databases, 6 articles have been published in journals from the list of the Higher Attestation Commission, and more than 9 have already been published based on the materials of international conferences works.

The scientific staff of the project underwent training on the topics "TIA-PRO1" and "TIA-WCCS" at Siemens, and 10 project participants improved their qualifications and gained new knowledge in biotechnological processing of organic waste. Also, four project participants received new high-tech jobs on the basis of Agroacademy LLC.

The results obtained in the course of the project were introduced into the educational process of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov in the form of new scientific and educational lectures:

"Biotechnology of protein production",
"Waste composting process",
"Determination of the hazard class of waste",
"The use of residual substrate from growing flies Hermetia illucens in soil health."

To popularize the results of the projects, many events were held, including the project was presented at the 25th anniversary Azerbaijan International Exhibition "Telecommunications, Innovation and High Technologies", the 6th annual national exhibition "VUZPROMEXPO-2019" and the International Scientific and Technical Conference "Rational Use natural resources and processing of technogenic raw materials: fundamental problems of science, materials science, chemistry and biotechnology. "

Specialists of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov and the Institute of Ecology and Evolution in the course of the joint implementation of the project, important scientific results were obtained, among which one can single out the theoretical development of 19 variants of feed mixtures based on potatoes, apples, apple pulp, sunflower meal, and corn. Also, 9 economically attractive options were selected to obtain the maximum biomass of larvae, which were experimentally tested in laboratory conditions.

Scientific specialists of the project assessed the influence of the composition of the forage substrate on the state of intestinal microsymbiocenosis of the larvae of the Black Lion fly. They revealed that yeast plays a significant role in the intestinal microbiocenosis of larvae.

After assessing the properties of zoo composts as an organic fertilizer, scientists came to the conclusion that the zoo composts of the studied variants contain all the main nutrients with a high phosphorus content. Such substances are able to suppress the development of phytopathogenic nematodes (roundworms), stimulating the immunity of plants against their infection. Therefore, the best qualities of growth with immunity against parasites are possessed by zoo compost obtained from the feed mixture for growing the larvae of the black lioness with sunflower cake.

A technical regulation has already been developed for feeding the larvae of the Black Lion fly and obtaining their biomass and zoo compost, which is formed during the separation of the larvae upon completion of the process of their cultivation on various feed raw materials.

All the presented results obtained during the implementation of the project “Creation of high-tech large-scale production of animal protein from fly larvae” confirm its significance, both from a scientific point of view and from the point of view of economic growth for the region.
