BSTU and Lafarge Cement outlined the plans for the future
On July 21 a delegation of representatives from one of Europe's largest cement producers - JSC "Lafarge Cement" visited BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov on a business trip. Among the guests –was a Coordinator for Technological Cooperation of the French Embassy in Russia Mathieu Girard and head of sustainable construction and affordable housing Constantine Korotov. The purpose of the visit of cement specialists was the expansion of cooperation between the both parties.
Today the French company "Lafarge" is the largest manufacturer of building materials not only in France but also in the world market of construction industry. Its structure includes more than 70 factories producing building materials. In Russia "Lafarge" company has worked since 1995 and owns cement plants in Voskresensk (Voskresenskcement) and Chelyabinsk region (Uralcement).
Faced with the administration of our university, the guests talked about the features of the cement production in France and some other European countries. To date, according to Constantine Korotov Europe puts attach great importance to the environmental safety. With this purpose, many governments have tried not only to tighten environmental legislation, by introducing strict standards and restrictions, but to establish special purpose bodies to control the production of construction materials, as well as nature conservation. One such examples is the European Institute for Safe Cement Production, established in 2002. In addition, the members of the delegation told that the French company of cement producers has a research center for building materials production.
After seeing the work of the section "Nanosystems in building materials", the guests expressed their high appreciation for the technological university.
Having discussed the issues of mutually beneficial cooperation, the vice-chancellor for research, Professor E.I. Yevtushenko noted that the visit of the French delegation, including representatives of "Lafarge", will give the dynamics for interaction between our two countries.
