Visit of the Delegation of the Sultanate of Oman
The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in the Russian Federation arrived on a business visit to Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov on June 16, 2011. The delegation was represented by His Excellency, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Oman to the Russian Federation, Mr. Mohammed Awad Abdoul Rahman Al-Hassan,, the head of Education section in the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Russia, Mr. Jamel Fadel, Head of information service of the Embassy, Mrs. Lina Matni.
Traditionally, the visitors laid the flowers to the monument to V.G Shukhov, which was followed by the meeting with the university professors’ staff.
Speaking at the meeting, BSTU Chansellor professor S.N Glagolev extended his personal gratitude as well as on behalf of the University staff to the distinguished guests for the great honor they have given our school with the visit. According to the Chancellor: "Our school has widely established itself in the Arab world. Following the visit of the First Deputy Minister of Education of the Sultanate of Oman, Dr. Abdullah Al Sarmi last summer, BSTU enrolled 10 students from Oman. In the near future for another thirty young people are expected to become students of our university. " In addition, Sergey Nokolaevich invited all the present to visit the exhibition, kindly provided by the embassy. The Ambassador of Oman to Russia, Mr. Mohammed Awad Abdoul Rahman Al-Hassan thanked the university management for the warm reception. « I have the honour of meeting you today, - he said, addressing the members of the Academic Council. – I am fascinated by your city, which was almost destroyed during World War II, and now is extremely beautiful.
High appreciation was given to Russia by the Ambassador: "The Arab world is looking with great respect at Russia, peacefully uniting hundreds of people of different culture and religion. Many professionals working in Oman, got their education in your country and we always remember it. And are extremely grateful! When we send our young people to your country - we invest into the human development, and therefore our entire country! "
Then, those present were able to ask questions like particular qualification currently in demand in Oman, the number of universities in Oman and the number of students studying abroad.
In conclusion, H.E., Mr. Mohammed Awad Abdoul Rahman Al-Hassan said the following: "We have a lot of natural resources, but our major wealth is a person. We are working on the development of our nation! "
