Promoting the employment of students and graduates of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov
Every year, more than 1,600 full-time Russian students are graduated from the walls of the Belgorod State Technological University named after Vladimir Grigorievich Shukhov. The share of employment is 75% (above the threshold for the Central Federal District). Of these, 60% are employed in the Belgorod region.
Due to the complex of work on youth employment in recent years, the volume of applications of our graduates to the labor and employment authorities of the Belgorod region is less than 1% of the number of graduates.
To achieve the above indicators and in order to reduce the risk of unemployment among graduates of a basic university, a comprehensive system of preventive measures is being implemented. During the 2019/2020 academic year, 12 job fairs were held with the participation of over 100 employing companies, dozens of company presentations and field trips for university students. In total, the Center for the Promotion of Employment of Graduates of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov conducted over the current academic year (taking into account quarantine) over 100 career events with a coverage of over 7,000 people.
This year, BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov for the first time, entered the Top 50 universities in terms of the “Demand for Graduates” indicator of the authoritative RAEX All-Russian Rating. Solve the tasks in the field of employment BSTU them. V.G. Shukhov, thanks to a partnership network with relevant companies within the framework of the Coordinating Council of Employers, BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov. More than 550 organizations are included in the database of partner companies.
A qualitatively new direction in the work of the Center to promote the employment of graduates of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov was the solution to the problem of promoting the employment of students and graduates in the current epidemiological situation in the spring and summer of 2020.
In particular, the emphasis by the staff of the above center was made on the following areas of work:
Search for vacancies with the possibility of remote work;
Creation of a special section “Working in a pandemic” in the Scillbook online employment system for the above vacancy category;
Daily publication of vacancies in the social networks of the Center to promote the employment of graduates of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov;
Conducting online job fairs on the VKontakte and ZOOM platforms;
Aggregation of video information about work with youth of the partner enterprises of the University; Work with the Office for Labor and Employment of the Belgorod Region.
As part of a package of measures to prevent the risks of unemployment among graduates of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov, employees of the Center for Promoting Employment of Graduates at the graduation stage (in the summer of 2020) conduct personal consultations with graduates, help each applicant who graduates fill out a portfolio and resume by communicating via e-mail and social networks or individually.
Every year a database of graduates is formed, which allows you to track everyone’s career. Work is underway to update the databases of graduates of past years through the Automated Graduate Employment System of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov “Scillbook”, e-mail, telephone contacts, as well as through specialized groups in social networks.
