BSTU Students Soccer Team won
On the eighth of June BSTU named after V.G Shukhov saw mini-soccer "Friendship Cup" games. Four teams, including BSTU students team, students, citizens of Arabic states studying at BSTU, a soccer team from Belgorod State Institute of Culture and team from Iraq. Assistance and support in the match arrangements was provided by the Department of Physical Education, and Preparatory Faculty for Foreign Students. The gym have not been so crowded with the spectators for long. Students from the Middle East were vigorously supporting their fellow students. The head of Physical Education Department prof. S.I Kramskoy, professor V.S Lesovik came to watch the match.
In the semifinals, "the relationship were figured out" between BSTU team and a team from Iraq. Both teams have demonstrated good playing technique and the desire to win. Already on the fourth minute drive and technique of BSTU students came out to be fruitful. As a result of a successful combination, using the scoring chances, they – supported by the fans’ cheers – they send the ball into Iraqi team gate. Until the end of the first period they managed to hit the gate of their rivals.
During the second period, both teams accelerated. But the team from Iraq was not able to change the game. BSTU team won with the score 6:1.
In the second semifinal game team of Arab students met played against the team of the Institute of Culture. Both teams showed good playing, however the advantage was still on the side of the students from Arab countries. It would be unfair to blame the team that has lost, just the luck smiled on the team of Arab students that night.
But perhaps the final game was the most exciting. BSTU students played against Arab students for the possession of the "Friendship Cup". The beginning of the first period was going with a clear advantage of BSTU students, who took the initiative. Fast movement, attacking the gate of the rivals allowed them to score four goals and only twice to get the ball out of their own gates. The final score of the match in favor of BSTU students.
At the award giving ceremony Dr. V.S Lesovik handed crystal "Friendship Cup" to Dmitry Nosachev, BSTU soccer team captain. By the way, Dmitry additionally got a certificate of honor as the best player. Valery Stanislavovich warmly congratulated the winners and encouraged the those who had lost: Georgi Alexandrov
- The main outcome of this meeting is that the friendship has won. Sport brings people from different cultures together, contributing to peace and progress - said V.S Lesovik.
