BSTU students from Turkmenistan took part in the opening ceremony of the monumemt commemorating the heroes from Turkmenistan, who died in Kursk battle
On May 31, 20 students of Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov came on a memorial estate dedicated to Kursk battle heroes to give a tribute to Turkmenistan citizens, who died in the battle during World War II. They attended a opening ceremony of the memorial to Turkmen soldiers. Minister Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan in the Russian Federation Halnazar Agakhanov and Belgorod oblast governor Evgeny Savchenko took part in the ceremony.
Our students laid flowers to the newly opened monument together with Turkmen diplomats, local government officials and Turkmen students studying in different Russian universities.
According to Halnazar Agakhanov, Minister Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan in the Russian Federation, the area of Turkmenistan was not involved in the war, however Turkmenistan sent many thousands of soldiers, 78 000 of them were given orders and medals. 38 of them got a Hero Golden Star and three of the Glory orders. The Ambassador stated that notwithstanding the current independent status of the country the attitude to the events of World War II remained unchanged. “In the modern and independent Turkmenistan still keeps a memory of the great deed of the people”.
The head of Belgorod local government E. Savchenko claimed that the place of the memorial estate commemorating the heroes of Kursk battle is becoming an area of international military glory. He mentioned the recently opened the memorial signs to Armenian soldiers and all Muslim soldiers who died in the Kursk battle. According to him “We should always remember the value of the Victory”.
