Every year on the 2nd of April , World Autism Awareness Day is celebrated around the world. It was established by a resolution of the UN General Assembly in 2007.
In the Belgorod region, more than 100 organizations took part in the “Light Blue” campaign and turned on the blue backlight on their buildings. The action lasted from 20 to 24 hours on April 2.
Blue is the official color of Autism Speaks, a non-governmental organization for the protection of the rights of people with autism, who came up with this action. Another symbol of autism is a piece of the puzzle, symbolizing the complexity of the disease.
The flagship university of the region has joined the campaing. On this day, the facades of the buildings BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov glowed in blue, which symbolized the protection of the rights of people with autism.
