An Opening Ceremony of the International Festival of Foreign Students
On May 19, 2011 an opening ceremony became the first step for an international festival of foreign students " The Earth is Our Home ". The First welcome speech addressed to the participants and the guests was made by the Vice-Rector for International Affairs , Professor R.V. Lesovik. Ruslan Valeruevich started with the soccer tournament, which had finished right on the eve of the festival at the University stadium, and congratulated the students of Angola with a victory in the final game.
Mahamat Usman Usman, president of the coordinating council of Belgorod branch of the Association of Foreign Students in Russia and E.Arkhipov, chairman of BSTU Students Council welcomed the participants of the festival.
Director of the Center for International Education and Cooperation, the dean of the preparatory faculty for foreign students, E.N. Legochkina addressed the participants . Elena Nikolaevna talked about program of the event, and expressed hope for strengthening friendship between the peoples and initiating the tradition to arrange an annual international festival in our university.
The opening ceremony was followed by research and practical conference "The contribution of the youth into the scientific and technical progress ". The organizers of the conference presented three topics: "The challenges of globalization in the world ", "Youth and scientific and technical progress", "Youth Subcultures".
The speakers focused on the problems in the above areas and their development prospects. For example, a student from Angola Muhongo Zhosena Madalena Pedro spoke about the global economic development, outlined the background of globalization, and pointed out the factors affecting the mobilization of funds from international banks. A student from Cambodia Chhin Sovann substantiated the basic requirements to high-strength concrete used for the construction of high-rise buildings, listed the main parameters of fiber concrete and provided a table comparing this material with regular concrete types.
The reports presented by BSTU students Shamsayev Abdulhakim Mohamed (Yemen) "Harmful impact of computer on human health” and Bado Alex (France)
" Parkour as a subculture. " were of particular interest to the audience.
In conclusion of the research and practical conference the visitors and participants thanked the speakers for informative presentations, and the organizers invited those present to an exhibition of national cultures.
