Fruitful results of the visit of delegation representing the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq
A two days’ visit of the representatives of the Republic of Iraq resulted in signing an agreement concerning educational process between BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov and Department of Culture of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in the Russian Federation.
«I am impressed by the opportunities of your university. You maintain high standards of professional training. We are opening a new cooperation history starting from educational activity», stressed His Excellency, Minister Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iraq r. Faik Farik Abdileziz NERWEYI. By now the interested party is ready to sign an agreement with our faculty members, who are fluent in English to teach students from Iraq. First of all the country needs mechanical, environmental, construction engineers and technologists. Only the best students are involved into selection process for taking a course at BSTU. As a rule they are applying for post-graduate studies.
According to Elena Legochkina, the Dean of the preparatory faculty for foreign students «They are quite disciplined and diligent in fulfilling their assignments. Such students do not cause any problems».
After signing a cooperation agreement the representatives of the Embassy answered the questions of the journalists: How do you arrange a selection process of the applicants wishing to study at BSTU? Do you see it possible to exchange creative groups? What economic sectors are in the focus of the government in terms of development prospects? Which specialists are urgently required?
At the end of the meeting the Chancellor of Belgorod state technological university named after V.G. Shukhov prof. S. Glagolev shared his impressions.
«We managed to discuss numerous issues in this short time period. We have not limited ourselves by the academic cooperation area only. We are planning a meeting with the industry representatives for this June. On May 17 we are expecting a delegation of «Teachers Association» from Iraq. We also have other interaction prospects».
The press conference was followed by the meeting with the students from Iraq studying at BSTU. They discussed urgent issues and problems related to their everyday life.
