Flagship University Expands International Cooperation
On September 17, the second forum of public diplomacy “The role of graduates in the development of business partnership” was opened on the basis of the flagshigship university of the region. The event was attended by ambassadors, diplomats, businessmen and professors from 30 countries of the world, heads of the largest Russian universities, representatives of the region’s authorities and business, employees and teachers of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov.
A large-scale event began with a meeting of guests in the central square of the university. Further, the participants of the event moved to the high-tech center, where the opening ceremony of the forum took place.
The rector of the BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov Sergey Glagolev: “Dear guests, in 2017, at the first forum of public diplomacy, we laid the foundation for international cooperation. It was then that we took the first step towards the establishment of our strong friendship in the field of higher education, social and cultural interaction. The basis of this is our graduates. They are bridges between different universities and countries; contribute to the creation of good and trusting relationships. We would like to devote the second forum of public diplomacy to international cooperation in the business sphere. Let's make our work as useful and productive as possible. Let this forum bring us a lot of new connections, useful agreements and joint projects. I wish everyone success in achieving their goals. ”
Chairman of the International Slavic Council, President of the Association of Law Universities, Sergei Baburin, noted that foreign graduates of Russian universities play a very important role in modern public diplomacy: “Only they truly understand what the breadth of the soul of a Russian person is, internationalism and patriotism. They know how at the same time you can love your original homeland and Russia, as a second homeland. If we talk about partnerships in the economy, education, the social sector, foreign graduates of our universities are the most reliable partners. They know that Russia can and must be trusted, that Russia needs to interact. Today, unfortunately, this is a scarce quality.
In a modern, fragmented world, we all need to restore trust between people and countries. Foreign graduates are the main popular force for this. ”
The participants of the event expressed gratitude to the staff of the reference university for the preparation and holding of the forum, noted the invaluable contribution of the university to the development of international relations. As a sign of respect, foreign guests handed the university administration memorable gifts and souvenirs.
During the plenary session, the forum participants discussed issues of increasing the level of information interaction, the development of international cooperation in the field of education and business, shared their experience and considered joint plans for the future.
An excursion was prepared for foreign guests, during which they got acquainted with the history and achievements of the university. All comers took part in a festive concert on the main square of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov.
Recall that the first international forum of public diplomacy was held in Belgorod in March 2017 at the BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov. The main theme was "The role of graduates of Russian and Soviet universities in the development and dissemination of Russian education and culture in the world." Thanks to this large-scale event, the main higher education institution of the region has significantly expanded its international relations. According to the results of the forum, more than 15 agreements were signed with associations of graduates of the participating countries.
