Reference: The Day of Statehood and the Day of the Armed Forces (Day of the Serbian Army) is celebrated annually in the Republic on February 15. This is also the date of the first Serbian uprising - a battle with the Turks. Despite the fact that the uprising was defeated, its outcome was the consent of the Sultan's authorities to the Serbian autonomy and the revival of the institution of statehood of Serbia. Another important event took place on this day - in 1835 the first Serbian democratic constitution was adopted - the Constitution of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, the so-called Sretenskaya Constitution.
