North Caucasian branch of the university celebrated its 20th anniversary
North Caucasus Branch of the flagship University - BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov - in the city of Mineral Waters is 20 years old.
The delegation of the head university included the university rector, professor Sergey Glagolev, vice-rector for continuing education Sergey Mikhaylichenko, director of the institute for the organization and management of recruitment Sergey Bulgakov. In a solemn atmosphere, Sergey Glagolev congratulated the branch team on its anniversary, presented gifts and awards.
The delegation members held a number of working meetings and round tables with applicants, employees of the branch and employers in the region.
Today branch of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov in Mineralnye Vody, without exaggeration, can be called one of the prestigious institutions of higher education in the North Caucasus. Over the years, the branch has produced more than 2,700 highly skilled civil engineers, programmers, economists and managers.
In the nineties, many construction companies experienced a personnel shortage. To meet the needs of the North Caucasus region in qualified specialists, it was decided to open a branch of the university in the city of Mineralnye Vody. Since its foundation, since 1998, the branch has been headed by Vladimir Kurbatov, Honored Builder of the Russian Federation, Professor, Doctor of Economic Sciences.
The university is one of the few in the Southern District that has begun training on the main areas of the construction industry - from building design, building materials production to the operation of constructed facilities, road construction, and certification of construction products.
The university's university administration and the branch management are aiming at a confident dynamic development of the educational and scientific units, the educational process is constantly being improved, new training directions are being opened, the material and technical base is being strengthened. Over the years of work, two doctors of science and twenty-seven candidates of science, seventeen associate professors have been trained from among the staff and teachers of the branch.
It would be unfair not to note that the good reputation about the graduates of the BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov has long crossed the boundaries of the region. Among their achievements is participation in the construction of the Olympic complex in Sochi, the Kerch bridge. Graduates of the branch successfully implement their knowledge in various fields of activity throughout the country. Their career growth testifies to the quality of training and relevance in the labor market - and this is one of the main indicators of the work of the university.
In the future, the branch’s team will build a dormitory for non-resident students, purchase unique research equipment, develop friendly cooperation with leading scientific schools in the country, and open new directions for the preparation of additional professional education to meet the requirements of the times.
