BSTU invited talented young people to study at the Belgorod Region
The flagship university of the Belgorod region held a New Year's Eve Open Day. About 300 people from future graduates of schools and colleges began their acquaintance with the university at the thematic exhibition in the main building of the university, where they were able to fully familiarize themselves with the features of the admission campaign-2019, receive promotional materials, chat with staff, teachers, heads of departments, institutes and university centers.
Future applicants and their parents were also presented with professional-interactive sites such as the Belgorod Children's Regional Technopark “Kvantorium”, student construction teams, robotics, the center of innovative creativity “Metamorphosis”, the engineering and racing team “SHUKHOV RACING TEAM”, volunteer teams of the university , unified student council and more. In the lobby of the university, anyone could purchase branded products of the university: T-shirts, baseball caps, flash drives, hoodies, mugs, etc.
The rector of the university, Professor Sergey Glagolev, recalled that today the university offers young people more than 250 educational programs, including secondary vocational and higher education, as well as graduate and postgraduate studies. As well as programs of secondary vocational education: in 2018, the first enrollment to the high technology college was conducted in three areas: "Architecture", "Ecology", and "Management of an apartment building".
In 2018, the university restored the military department, gaining students, which expands the horizons for the employment of graduates, gives a military specialty. In the future, the university plans to transform the military department into a military center and graduate officers.
Compared to last year, the flow of incoming, including from other regions and countries, increased significantly. In 2018, more than 9.5 thousand applications were filed. This is a thousand more than in 2017. The competition for this admission campaign was also higher than in previous years: an average of 5.7 people per seat, and in some areas - 30 people per seat. According to the results of the 2018 admission campaign, 2,308 people were enrolled for full-time education, which is 214 more than in 2017. A set of correspondence courses amounted to 2021 people. In general, the university enrolled in 2018 4359 people, which is 319 people more than the previous year.
Today BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov enrolled students from 70 regions of Russia (last year there were 62), 11 countries of the near and 50 - far abroad. The university issues a diploma of international standard, which is recognized in more than 160 countries of the world. In all areas of training, the percentage of graduate employment is over 80%.
BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov created opportunities not only for excellent study, but also for a rich and interesting leisure. The university has 25 student associations (scientific community, student councils, etc.), 45 creative teams, 35 sports clubs, KVN, student construction teams, student TV "Studlife".
The rector also noted that in 2018 the university entered the top 20 best Russian universities of technical profile, entered the TOP 100 of the international ranking Webometrics. In the annual ranking of universities in Russia and the best schools in Russia on the competitiveness of graduates of the RAEX agency, the supporting university in 2018 rose to the TOP-100 from 60 to 55 position. And traditionally, the university is regularly included in the TOP-100 of the National Interfax university rankings of universities.
