At the university tournament school students replenished knowledge of chemistry
A regional stage of the in-person round of the inter-regional chemical tournament was held at the flagship university BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov for the fourth year has become a platform for holding team competitions in chemistry among schoolchildren of 8-11 grades from all over the Belgorod region. The main task of the tournament is to instill in young people an interest in chemistry.
“During the tournament, participants meet with teachers and institutes of BSTU. Named after V.G. Shukhov, learn the actual problems and tasks of chemical science and industry. The format of the competition involves solving problems in teams with the preparation of multimedia presentations. The tasks assigned to the participants are of an applied nature, and their solution presupposes a creative approach on the part of schoolchildren. Since professional orientation, the preparation of competent specialists with the subsequent admission to the leading universities of the country should begin at school, the university is actively expanding the tournament movement, ”noted in the center of pre-university training of the university.
In 2018, Belgorod Engineering Boarding Lyceum, secondary school No. 11 “Almaz”, Middle Igumen’s secondary school “6th element” took part in the tournament. All participants successfully coped with the role of speaker, opponent and reviewer, won high marks from the jury, and most importantly, got the opportunity to speak publicly and were able to share their knowledge and solutions. The first place was taken by the team of the lyceum-boarding school, the prize-winners were the teams “Almaz” and “6th element”.
For reference: the tournament is held under the general guidance of the Faculty of Chemistry, Moscow State University. Mv Lomonosov, in 2018, it is devoted to the theme "Chemistry and the ocean." The regional tour is a qualifying stage for participation in the inter-regional tournament, which will be held in January-February 2019.
