A press conference of rector of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov, Professor Sergey Glagolev for journalists of regional media was held on July 12 at the flagship university of the Belgorod region.
The issue of the press conference is «Admission Campaign-2018». The first vice-rector Nikolay Shapovalov, vice-rector for research Yevgeny Yevtushenko, vice-rector for continuing education Sergey Mikhaylichenko, vice-rector for cultural, educational and social work Irina Avilova, the executive secretary of the admission committee Sergey Bulgakov took part in the conference.
Journalists from leading regional publications questioned about the target admission levels, pass grade, innovations of 2018, and others.
Admission for the specializations of secondary vocational education was one of the main innovations of this year. Nikolay Shapovalov explained that the new specializations, such as «Architecture» and «Construction of multi-family housing» are unique in the segment of secondary vocational education, since there are no similar directions in universities and colleges of the Central Federal District, which means that these specialties will be able to fill a niche so required by specialists.
At the moment, the University has filed about 5000 applications. The most popular are such specializations as «Architecture», «Mechanical Engineering», «Quality Management», «Applied Informatics» and others.
