Chemistry students have been practicing at a leading enterprise in Denmark
Students of 3rd and 4th year of the Department of Cement Technology and Composite Materials of the flagship university have been trained at FLSmidth company (Copenhagen, Denmark). The group was accompanied by the head of the department, doctor of technical sciences Ivan Borisov and assistant professor Dmitry Smal.
FLSmidth company is one of the leaders in the world market for the development of technological equipment for the cement and mining industries. Students were introduced to the management of the company, told about the history of the company, novelties and trends in the development of the modern industrial branch at the main office. About 15 thousand employees work in FLSmidth company, the company's branches are located in more than 50 countries.
The company pays much attention to the problems of resource and energy saving and reduction of negative emissions in the production of cement. The students were told about a new development - cyclone CCX (Counter current cyclone). This cyclone differs from the typical air intake direction, which allows to reduce the dimensions of the installation and increase the dimensions of the cyclone of the heat exchanger.
Also, students visited the research center of the company on the island of Jutland. The center is equipped with the most modern equipment. There is a wide range of research in the field of grinding, clinker burning, the use of alternative fuels, etc. The main goal of all research is aimed at energy and resource saving in the production of binders.
Employees of the center demonstrated full-scale model installations that allow simulating various situations in the operation of equipment and finding ways to intensify ongoing processes.
