A meeting of the Academic Council was held at the flagship university on May 30 2018
Rector of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov Professor Sergey Glagolev held a regular meeting of the Academic Council. It began with the presentation of the book of the honorary guest of the university - the President of the International Shukhov Foundation, a member of the Union of Journalists of Russia, a member of the International Union of Journalists Leonid Stern. The high guest presented the three-volume «Selected Works of the Honorary Academician Shukhov». The multivolume edition was issued specifically for the 165th anniversary of the birth of a great engineer, whose name is a technological university. The books were solemnly handed over to the university with the wish to raise worthy followers of Shukhov's thought and deed.
Rector of the university professor Sergey Glagolev handed over the gratitude of the department of internal and personnel policy of the Belgorod region, as well as diplomas, letters of thanks to the participants and winners of various scientific conferences, professional competitions and sports tests to the heads, teachers and students of the university. During the meeting, the members of the Academic Council examined a number of issues in detail. professor, director of the department of educational policy Evgeny Doroganov reported on the university's readiness for state accreditation in 2018.
Vice-Rector for International Activities, prof. Ruslan Lesovik presented the results of the university's international activities and tasks for 2018. The figures given in the report by Ruslan Valerievich indicate that BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov is actively developing international cooperation. Today the university signed 122 international agreements. foreign delegations from the University of Damanhur (Egypt), Consul of the Republic of Syria in Russia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uganda to the Russian Federation, delegation of the Youth Parliament from the sister city of Herne (Germany), representatives of the Association of Arab Universities, General Secretary of the Association of Rectors of the Near East, Professor Sultan T. Abu-Arabi and others visited the university in 2017-2018. an annual international sculptural plein air, with participation of sculptors from Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Palestine and Morocco was held at BSTU at 2017. In 2016-2017, 1704 foreign citizens from 67 countries were trained at the university, including pre-university courses, a summer language school, Russian language courses. As of today, 1735 foreign students study at the flagship university.
As a successful example of cooperation, Ruslan Lesovik presented the results of collaboration with University of Hassan 1. The agreement has been in operation little more than a year, but the preparatory faculty for foreign citizens has already been established. The lectures are conducted by the teachers of the preparatory faculty of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov. They teach 250 students of Hassan University 1 who want to continue their studies in Russia through a master's and postgraduate program or participate in exchange programs. At the same time, within the framework of the summer exchange program, students and employees of the flagship university study French language at the host university.
In addition, the Vice-Rector for International Activities spoke about the priority plans of the department. So, this year BSTU will take part in the Arab-Russian-Malaysian Forum in Malaysia (People's Diplomacy Forum), where 120 participants from 37 countries of the world are expected. Representatives of the flagship university will take part in the Russian-Sudanese forum in Sudan, where BSTU acts as an organizer. But the main task of the Center for International Education and Cooperation of BSTU for the current year is an increase in the number of foreign students and employment of the best graduates. Other issues of the activity of the flagship university were discussed within the framework of the agenda of the meeting.
