The winners of the elimination round will present the university in St. Petersburg at the contest «Spaghetti builder»
The elimination round of the contest «Spaghetti builder» was held at the flagship regional university, where schoolchildren of the senior classes of the Belgorod schools, lyceums, gymnasiums, as well as students of the Institute of Civil Engineering took part. The director of the Institute of Civil Engineering Valery Uvarov became the honorary guest of the competition.
The contest is held on the initiative and with the participation of teachers, post-graduates and students of the Department of Urban Construction and Economy, the Department of Architectural Constructions, the Student Council of Builders of the Institute of Civil Engineering, as part of the career-oriented scientific and technical creative center «Sozidatel».
According to the organizers, last year's winners take part in this competitive test, where they can share their skills with comrades.
The main goal of the event is the development of the creative potential of students, the practical application of their knowledge of construction mechanics, architecture and other specialized disciplines, enhancing the prestige of architectural building professions, and identifying active students and involving them in the public activity of the university.
It was one hundred students and schoolchildren consisted of 20 teams. For a certain time (5 hours) they needed to make 20 constructions of spaghetti: 12 towers and 8 bridges.
The first place was taken by the team «Italyashki» with a construction height of 4 meters 55 cm in the category «Towers». The second place was given to the team «Quintet», the third place was shared by the team «Olympus» and «RaviolPromstroy».
In the nomination «Bridges» the winner was the «Shukhovtsy» team with a result of 4 meters 52 cm. The second place was taken by the team «MakaronStroyservis», and the third - «PastaStroy».
It should be noted that the winners’ results became the record-breaking in length of the structure as well as in height.
«Next time, we are planning to add the direction «Openwork shells». Also, we are currently preparing one project for the manufacture of bridge structures from wooden skewers and epoxy resin. We will check them for stability, as well as for the load.
