BSTU students have proven to be the best at the Olympiad «Engineering Olympus»
According to the results of the qualifying stage of the student's Olympiad «I am a professional», student of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov Anastasia Sviridenko and Viktoria Polyakova visited Sochi and took part in the winter school of the Ural Federal University «Engineering Olympiad: New Professionals of Russia» in their specialization «Construction».
150 promising bachelors and undergraduates from 28 cities of the country arrived in Sochi. They showed good results at the qualifying stage of the student Olympiad «I am a professional» in the fields «Materials Science and Materials Technology» and «Construction».
At the workshops participants of the winter school of the UrFU attended lectures, and also reviewed the knowledge in the field of construction and materials science, carried out the panel discussions and training programs.
The chairman of the board of directors of the Pipe Metallurgical Company and the Sinara group, the head of the supervisory board of the UrFU Dmitry Pumpyansky, the rector of the UrFU Viktor Koksharov, the first deputy minister of construction and housing and communal services of the Russian Federation Leonid Stavitsky visited this event.
The program of the winter school was aimed at acquainting students with the practical aspects of professions and the latest trends in the development of materials science and construction. For example, experts discussed «green» technologies in architecture, materials and technologies for components of electronics and electric vehicles, steel as the leading structural material of the 21st century. The lecture on the competencies of the future was one of the most notable events.
In addition, professional psychologists and business coaches, as well as media representatives talked to the students. The business program of the student's school was complemented by excursions, sports and recreational activities.
Participants attended lectures «Development of BIM competencies of young professionals» and «Foundry production in the creation of art works», summed up the competition of video projects «Portrait of an ideal engineer» and met with the chairman of the board of directors of TMK and the Sinara group Dmitry Pumpyansky. There is a shortage of engineering personnel in the country in his opinion: The Olympiad «I am a professional» is a new social and professional elevator for students who study not only in the capital's universities, but also in the regions of our country, the opportunity for career development and, in particular, employment. TMK Company together with the Ural Federal University and the Sinara group organized a winter school in Sochi so that the students from all over the country could exchange knowledge, compete and acquire a new contact base. And we, as employers, are already looking closely at them, » said Dmitry Alexandrovich.
Participants also received the skills of teamwork - they were divided into groups. The results were evaluated at each stage. The team of Anastasia Sviridenko took the third place in the overall ranking.
In March, the names of the winners of all the stages of the Olympiad «I am a professional» will be known. They will receive cash prizes, an opportunity to work as intern in large Russian companies, an additional bonus when doing the master’s degree program and postgraduate course in the leading universities of the country. Moreover, students will be in the privet national base «Young Professionals», where the recruiters of leading employers can find staff.
