An international online conference on building materials science was held at the university
An international online conference timed to the Day of Russian Science was held at the Department of building materials science, structures and constructions at BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov. Students, postgraduates and stuff of the flagship university of the Belgorod region as well as students from the federal universities of Russia and foreign countries took part in this event.
The director of the Institute of Engineering and Construction of the university, Professor Valery Uvarov opened the conference. Valery Anatolievich congratulated all participators on the Day of Russian Science and noted the importance of research conducted by the scientists of the Department of building materials science, structures and constructions. He also congratulated the Honored Worker of the Higher School of the Russian Federation, Professor Shark Rakhimbaev on his birthday and solemnly handed him the letter of recognition for success in the field of building materials science.
Representatives of partner universities - Professor Hans Bertrand Fischer from Bauhaus University Weimar (Germany), representative of the Anbar University (Iraq), Head of the Department of building materials Dr. Akramash, representative of the Northen (Arctic) Federal University named after M.V. Lomonosov, Professor Arkady Eisenstadt, representative of the North-Eastern Federal University named after M.K. Ammosov, Professor Alexey Mestnikov joined the online conference.
Professor Valery Lesovik was the first speaker with the report: «Geonika. Geomimetics is the theoretical basis of nature-friendly technologies», related to the fundamentals of building materials science of the present and future, which are already being implemented by Russian and foreign scientists in the design of new generation composites.
Professor Hisham from the University of Damascus (Syria) introduced the report: «Development of a methodology for assessing damage for buildings in Syria». He highlighted the contribution of the scientists of the Department of building materials science, structures and constructions to assisting in the development of a concept for the restoration of destroyed buildings and structures.
Professor Akramash (Iraq) and the post-graduate student of the Department of building materials science, structures and constructions, Ahmed Ahmed Anis Ahmed introduced their reports as well. The department post-graduate student, Dmitry Popov, described the results of the dissertation research for the candidate of science, carried out at the Department of building materials science, structures and constructions (BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov) and the Dresden Technical University. His work is related to the development of an innovative construction composite of the future - textile-concrete.
Associate Professor Alexander Volodchenko acquainted guests with his research which is fulfilled within the doctoral thesis. His work is focused on the development of energy-saving building composites based on man-made aluminosilicate raw materials. A fourth-year student Evgeny Kogut told about the development of a laboratory installation for 3D additive technologies in construction.
Graduate student of the Northen (Arctic) Federal University named after M.V. Lomonosov Marina Morozova and associate professor Marina Frolova, working on her doctoral thesis led by Professor Valery Lesovik, performed online. They reported about the use of man-made raw materials of the Arkhangelsk diamond-bearing province to obtain efficient building materials for the development of the North and the Arctic.
The reports aroused great interest, this conference was followed by a question-and-answer session with speakers. At the end, the online meeting turned into a very lively discussion.
As a result of the event, all participants were awarded with memorable diplomas.
