Guests from Agricola University
On the May 3 the delegation of one of leading universities of Germany - the Higher Technical University named after G. Agricola has arrived at the BSTU.
The group of guests included Professor Christian Melshers and six students, but they are already professionals. They have to study at the university and work at the same time,every one of them heads a company in the field of mining. Finding new knowledge in the university, they also exchange their accumulated practical experience.
According to the tradition of our university the guests in the square of the university were met by girls in Russian national costumes. German friends laid flowers at the monument to the renowned scientist, designer and engineer V.G. Shukhov, whose name and works are well known abroad, Including Germany.
Then the guests went to the main building of the university, where one of the audiences hosted a round table on the problems of cooperation between universities. It was attended by students and teachers.
The meeting was opened by the Vice-Rector in International prof. Lesovik. He said that now a days about 1,500 foreign students are studying at the university. Preparatory faculties are working in China and Morocco. There is a double-degree program with universities in Poland and China.
Then the floor was given to the Professor V.S. Bogdanov. He reminded that our universities are actively cooperating at the level of three years. They exchange delegations and seek ways to jointly solve emerging issues. Now a days there are 5 students from our university are studying at the Agricola university.
Our guests noted that to stay at BSTU is a great honor for them. And they are sure that they will be able to draw a lot of useful information on the Belgorod land both for their personal work and for forming the prospects for the further development of the entire educational institution.
The guests spoke about the rapidly shut down mines in Germany, the problems with water pumping, the need to control the process, making it economical and safe. For this purpose, a simpler scientific center was created at their university.
At the end of the round table representatives of the Agricola University took part in a large-scale environmental action - laying oak alleys.
German friends got acquainted with the exhibits of the university museum and left a warm tip in the book of honorary guests. They expressed deep admiration for what they saw, sincere gratitude for the hospitality and cordial welcome.
The Rector of the BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov, Professor S.N.Glagolevnotes that the relations between our universities are growing every day and now we are real friends.
The head of the university presented souvenir sets with the symbols of the BSTU to our German friends and representatives of the G. AgricolaUniversity. gave the rector an attribute from the equipment of mountain workers and expressed the hope for the successful continuation of cooperation.
In the second half of the day, German friends made an excursion around the museums and memorable places of Belgorod. On May 4, they will visit Gubkinand on May 5 they will visit the Kursk Bulge.
