We have a wonderful country and warm-hearted people

"We have a wonderful country and warm-hearted people ..." - a conclusion reached by Eugene Kapustin  director of the centre for international education and cooperation during his six-week cross country motorcycle race throughout Russia and abroad.

The race, which started on June 11, 2014 was dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov, initiated by the rector of the University and a regional office of "United Russia" party.

On July 29, 2014 BSTU management, faculty staff and students of the university greeted the traveler, who had covered a total distance of 25,000 kilometers.

Welcoming Eugene Kapustin, Rector of the University, prof. S.N. Glagolev noted that this kind of event took place for the first time. The jubilee motocross was a great opportunity to drive across the country, spread information about our university, meet the university alumni, make new friends and have bright unforgettable impressions. Eugene Kapustin brought back the banner of the university with signatures and wishes of the people he had met during the journey and  passed it to the University museum.

Great support in organizing such a large scale race was provided by regional "United Russia" representations in the areas where the route was passing. With great enthusiasm the traveler from  Belgorod was greeted in the cities of Omsk, Ulan-Ude, Chita and other cities. Eugene was travelling with "United Russia" flag which he brought in every city.
Those who were followed the course of travel, accumulated numerous questions. During the press conference, Eugene Kapustin could satisfy the curiosity of the audience. The questions asked by journalists and members of the public were extremely varied.

The most complex part of the route was in Mongolia, where it was necessary rely solely on the compass. The great part of the journey had no roads, only stone, sand and steppe around ... People were met very seldom, and sometimes you had to starve ...

Among the people met on the way, one of the most remembered was the acquaintance with an Austrian university professor, who was also travelling across Russia on a motorcycle. Apart from friendly relations with the Austrian professor, business contacts had been established as well. And what still remains in the memory is a friendly attitude of auto and motorcycle travelers towards each other. In contrast to a widespread belief, Eugene Kapustin stated a good quality of Russian roads throughout his way. An indelible impression was left from the beauty of the country in which we live. "Having driven thousands of miles, I always felt at home" - said Eugene.

On his way, E.V. Kapustin was keeping a diary, interviewed BSTU graduates, people with whom he communicated. All this material is still awaiting its interpretation. The young traveler is thinking about writing a book about his adventures. For now the progress of the race can be found on the University website.
It's only the end of the Eugene started to think about the following large-scale event with several particiopants.
