Press conference participants answered questions from journalists
World Day of Orthodox Youth is celebrated on February 15, the day of the Presentation of Jesus at the Temple. In Russia this holiday traditionally begins with the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, always visited by representatives of Orthodox youth movements and organizations.
Orthodox Youth Day has been celebrated on the Holy Land of Belogoriya for twenty years. It is particularly symbolic that Belgorod state technological university named after V.G. Shukhov has become a perfect venue for celebrations. This year was no exception. Festivities dedicated to Orthodox Youth Day at the University started with laying flowers at the monument to the great engineer Vladimir Shukhov.
The university is well aware that, when entering into adulthood, young men and ladies bring along the ideals they have learned from parents and teachers, senior people. These are people are destined to contribute a lot of work, patience, show sincere love and kindness to bring up the younger generation with the ideals of mercy, involving them in active in active social and missionary activities, helping them to build relationships with members of other faiths, to bring up young people who are able to take challenges of the present and adequately respond to them.
The above issues became the main topic of the press conference at within the framework of celebrating the Orthodox Youth Day. The event was attended by Metropolitan John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol, rector of Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov, professor S.N. Glagolev, deputy chief of the department of internal and personnel policies in Belgorod oblast, Head of Youth Policy Body N.V.Poluyanova , as well as president of the University, professor A.M. Gridchin.
During the press conference, the participants willingly answered the journalists' questions concerning cooperation between the University and St. Michael's Church , Sunday school activities. Representatives of mass media were also interested in the possibility of arranging festive events on the Orthodox Youth Day in other towns and provinces etc.
This press conference became special by participation of foreign students studying at BSTU. In memory of this event, international youth representatives were presented with commemorative book with photographs by a renowned photographer Paul Krivtsov "Chronicles of the Holy Belogoriya"
