With the Whole World for Road Peace
In February BSTUhold a joint road safety workshop with the representatives from the state Traffic Safety Inspectorate.
The youth road safety squad of BSTU put forward such an unusual initiative. The young people have decided to attract foreign students to their activity.
Youth squad has been at our university for 5 years. Each students’ generation, the future road safety engineers (transportation and technological institute) take part in the work of regional traffic police. In addition, students are constantly coming up with new, interesting and innovative ways to work with road users. The youth brigade members decided to mark their fifth anniversary in a special way. So the idea came to discuss road safety problems all around the world.
Professor S. Glagolev, the Chancellor, took part in the event. Warmly welcoming the audience, he said: "In the world each year more than one million two hundred thousand people die on the roads. It should be noted that about half of the victims of accidents - are pedestrians, motorcyclists, cyclists and public transport users.
Special attention in the next 5-7 years should be paid to the formation of intelligent transport systems in urban areas. At our university, the traffic safety department established a laboratory of Intelligent Transportation Systems. Services of this laboratory are already given to our city and regional authorities. But, most importantly, they are attracted to specific projects designed to improve the traffic situation in the city ... "Sergey Nikolaevich expressed deep gratitude to the representatives of traffic police for the visit and wished fruitful joint cooperation.
Today, students of transportation and Technology Institute are directly involved in projects to improve the efficiency of the road network in the region. A targeted raids with pedestrians, passengers, drivers and young road users, of course, help them develop as professionals. The event involving foreign students was special, because the participants translated road safety slogans into their native language, all of them united by the following motto "with the whole world – for the road peace."
Foreign students of Belgorod Shukhov State Technological University, representing 68 countries, supported the idea enthusiastically.
The event was also attended by Deputy Chief of Road Police in the Belgorod region Colonel V.A Kondratiev. "Our region – he said is one of the three most prosperous regions in terms of traffic safety. This is facilitated by considerable investment in road construction, reconstruction, repair of roads. But it should be noted that road safety involves three indicators: a human – a vehicle – a road, so you need to teach both drivers and pedestrians to respect for the traffic rules "
Attended a meeting of senior inspector of the Road Police in Belgorod region, major E.A. Checheneva said the following: "Today we are holding a workshop to attract the attention of an increasing number of people, because behind the numbers of killed on the road stand family members, children, relatives. Obeying the traffic rules a law that requires strict compliance. The fact that young people have created a squad in the university is very important. And if we observe a decrease of accidents, deaths and injuries of our fellow citizens, in this case, of course, there will be your merit. "
On behalf of the international students a citizen of China Hao Jinqiao spoke on the measures of road safety in China. The young man told that his country roads are mostly paid. They have very high quality and are equipped with video fixing cameras with the interval of every 100 meters. The greatest crime in China is to escape from the place of an accident. For this an offense, and also in case of alcohol abuse the driver is severely punished and deprived of documents for driving.
Information on the rules of the road in their countries were also made by representatives of Turkmenistan, African, Arabic countries, etc. For example, a student from Ashgabat shared interesting information about the ban in his country to use cars by the students. Therefore, young people are forced to use public transportation.
The event was the opening of the campaign on road safety under the motto "With the whole world for throad peace." Within the framework of the events, the foreign volunteers were recorded in the studio of the radio station "Autoradio-Belgorod and were on air on the 21th of February. The program called to respect the traffic rules . The recording was made by 12 young people in French, Arabic, Chinese and other foreign languages, appealing to road users to obey traffic rules, be polite to other drivers, passengers and pedestrians.
On the same day, a little later, the event continued in the streets. Small groups of young spread out leaflets on the central pedestrian area in the city center, attracting the attention of passers-by by the appeals written in different languages. With the flags of their countries and the relevant attributes of the youth squad the students organized the "chain of road community" standing one next to the other along one of the greatest avenues of Belgorod. Dozens of posters and leaflets in the hands of the students lined up on two parallel roads and promoting road safety, left no one indifferent.
