A Student is a versatile personality
On November 15 Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov, held a traditional annual contest "Student of the Year - 2012", dedicated to the International Day of Students.
This year's event, prepared by the staff and creative teams of the Students’ Art Centre, was particularly striking and memorable. Nine of the best students’ representatives judged by ladies, representatives of local and university youth organizations, a drama theater actress E.V. Tkacheva, and, of course, the chairman of the BSTU Joint Trade Union Committee, Ph.D., Professor. I.P. Avilova.
The contestants were inspired by creative teams and students involved in gymnastics, who contributed to a festive atmosphere. So the show was fun and entertaining. The contenders for the title of "Student of the year" were given a warm and emotional receipt. Because each of them deserved the crown.
Addressing the audience in the hall, the vice-rector for cultural and educational work, Prof. O.V. Puchka congratulated the students on the occasion and emphasized that our university pays close attention to the harmonious and comprehensive development of an individual.
If you summarize the participants' answers to the question "What do you expect from the competition?" you will get the answer: "New victories, impressions, new friends ... I want to give pleasure to people, to test myself, to introduce my culture ..."
The young gentlemen told about themselves with humor and imagination during the first round: giving thanks to their parents, remembering the places where they spent the childhood, their family, telling us about their hobbies. I would particularly like to highlight self-presentations made by Eugene Tochilkin, Andrey Molchanov and Guilherme Pedro Dias. They declared themselves as leaders of the contest from the very first stage.
A novelty of this season was an athletic contest. The guys showed a fair wit and dedicated their performance to tennis and football, weightlifting and basketball, field hockey and fencing, volleyball and boxing.
"Time to create" was the name of the competition given by the organizers , where contestants showed their talents in abundance. Acrobatic performance was followed by lyrical songs, hip-hop and martial arts, successfully contrasting with intimate poetry recitation.

Second place - Andrey Molchanov (Institute of Atchitecture and Construction)
