The Sultanate of Oman: education is important for our country
Despite the fact that the delegation of the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman was met by a cold autumn rain, the guests have appreciated a warm handshake and the attention they were surrounded at Belgorod State Shukhov Technological University.
The representatives of this sunny country have visited Belgorod quite often during the past few years, because the universities in Belgorod are continually expanding their cooperation with the countries of the Persian Gulf. This time the delegation was headed by Minister Plenipotentiary and Deputy Head of Mission of the Sultanate of Oman in the RF Jamal Hamed Al Ghailani. Among the delegates - Counsellor of the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in the Russian Federation for Economic Affairs, Mr. Taleb Bin Rashid Al Siyab and Cultural Attache of the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in the RF Jamel Fadel. Following the tradition the visitors laid flowers to the monument to a great Russian scientist V. Shukhov.

The economy, construction and industry of the Sultanate of Oman are developing rapidly. The country's leadership in its policy relies on raising the educational level of citizens. The country pays strict attention to the choice of educational institutions made by young citizens of Oman. Therefore the choice of BSTU made by representatives of Arab countries is the evidence of appreciation, which the university have received in the Arab world. Higher professional education received by the citizens of Oman in Russia, will help in implementing the most ambitious state plans. For the city and the university is a great opportunity of cooperation in various fields, in particular in the area of education, science and culture. And one way to enhance the prestige of Belgorod universities in the export of education services in this influential region. Oman is located in south-west Asia, south-east of the Arabian Peninsula, bordered by Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen. The country is washed by the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Oman. Oman's economy is based on oil exports. In addition, the government of Oman plans to diversify the economy - to develop gas production, iron and steel industry and tourism.
The guests were offered a tour of the university, during which they met with security system, the exhibits at the university museum, visited the sports facilities and a swimming pool.
Commenting on his experience, Zhamal Hamed Al Gailani said: "The Government of the Sultanate of Oman has outlined plans to make the increase in the education level for our citizens. In this regard, it is important to communicate with the Russian universities. Your university is already very well known in our country. And the main advertising campaign is being made by the students who are here to learn and retain the brightest memories and positive emotions. That is why we will expand cooperation with the university - the Ministry of Education of the country will increase the number of students sent to study at BSTU. Moreover, their education will be funded by the state. "
Vice-Rector for International Relations, prof.R.V. Lesovik also noted the interest in expanding cooperation with the Sultanate of Oman and other countries in the Arab world.
The visit will last for three days, and during that time, guests from Oman can fully explore the city of Belgorod, its glorious history, tourist attractions, as well as the achievements of recent times. Representatives of the Sultanate plan to join the community of the twin cities of Belgorod, the number of which are now more than ten. The schedule of the visit includes visiting the Institute of Culturre and Art, in which young Omanis are also being trained. The representatives of the embassy will also meet those who study at BSTU and Belgorod State University.
