Zambian Ambassador to Russia: mutual exchange of culture continues (September 22, 2012 )

During the visit, the delegation of the Republic of Zambia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Zambia to Russia Frederick Shumba Hapunda and Education Attaché of the Embassy of the Russian Federation Laimo Michael Mundambo met with students Zambians studying at Belgorod Shukhov State Technological University.

During the meeting, the ambassador discussed with the students the issues of education, learning and living conditions. "We will continue to promote bilateral relations, to send our students to study at BSTU, as Zambian technical institutions do not provide enough places for everyone. The quality of education at BSTU is very high and the university diplomas are recognized all over the world, "- said the guest.

 H.E. Frederick Shumba Hapunda reminded his compatriots that the professions obtained at BSTU are in great demand in Zambia,  above all the country needs civil engineers, energy, architects.
"Study abroad and in Russia is very important, because you have the opportunity to make friends with students of this beautiful country, and their families. You take part in cultural and sporting activities, including traveling and visiting different places of interest. You can find out about the country by communicating with real people. But more importantly, the Russian students and their families will learn about Zambia from you. Thus, you represent your country in Russia, it is a mutual exchange of cultures, "- said Frederick Hapunda Shumba.
  Finally, the ambassador stressed the importance of education and getting a degree which is in demand, as it can influence the success in life.
 Students, in their turn, thanked the Ambassador for his visit and for their attention and assured him that knowledge and experience they receive in Russia must be  used for the benefit of their home country.

We remind that more than 800 foreign students, including 32 from the Republic of Zambia are studying at BSTU, among them another 12 young Zambians studying at the preparatory faculty for foreign students.
