Developing friendship between Russia and Germany
On May 31 BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov was visited by a delegation from Belgorod’s twin city of Herne (Germany) headed by the chairman of the section "City of Belgorod" Clonks Ulrik. The delegation consisted of residents of the German city and Clonks Ulrik, Shpikhofen Renabe and Shpikhofen Johann Theodore, Melissa and Prtsubul Prtsubul Hans-Lothar Schmitz Gunther, Reubelt Beatrice.
The purpose of the visit of representatives of this German city was familiarization with the culture, life, health, educational system of the city of Belgorod. It should be noted that the delegation did not represent any official organization. A trip to Russia for them is voluntary and is funded from a personal budget. Nevertheless, the mayor of the city of Herne welcomes, supports and develops these signs of public diplomacy, which aims at formation of mutual understanding between the peoples.
Before visit to BSTU the German guests had visited children's hematology center and Belgorod State University. A further visit to kindergartens was also scheduled for the group.
According to the tradition established at the University the guests laid flowers at the monument to a great Russian scientist V. Shukhov. And then the visitors were offered a tour, during which they were able to see the sports complex with a swimming pool, exhibition center and museum of the University.
For Clonks Ulrich is not the first visit to Belgorod, but BSTU made a most favorable impression on him. He especially noted the attention paid to the development of physical culture and sports at the university. For Germany, promoting healthy lifestyle among children and adolescents is a big problem. "It's a great stadium! I wish we had the same in Herne! " Enthusiastically added the head of the delegation. And the guests liked the fact that in Belgorod there are a lot of young people. Prtsubul Melissa is a university student. She has already had the experience of communication with the Russian people. Last year her home was a host family for a Russian girl, an exchange student, who came to study German. Melissa was interested to learn more about Belgorod, and she came to visit her friend Belgorod. Melissa noted that in Germany there is no possibility to study the Russian language to the extent you wish. And she was struck by serious attitude of the Russian students to their learning. The girl added that on their arrival home, she, like other members of the delegation, will share her experiences with friends, which will surely contribute to better understanding between the nations.
The guests visited the Regional Resource Centre of French and German, where they met with the staff and discussed issues of international cooperation.
Sabina Velieva told the guests about the diverse activities carried out by the center. She particularly noted that one of the most important trends is the development of partnerships between universities from different countries.
