Belgorod students celebrated Africaт Day
In 1963, the Organization of African Unity announced May 25 as African Liberation Day.
In connection with this event in BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov brought together the representatives of the continent, studying in Belgorod State Shukhov Technological University, VG Belgorod State University, Belgorod Agricultural Academy, Belgorod State Institute of Culture and the Arts.
Today, the universities in Belgorod are training students from 20 African countries: Angola, Benin, Burundi, Ghana, Guinea, Zambia, Egypt, Kenya, Congo, Cameroon, Mali, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, Somalia, Sudan, Sierra Leone Chad, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia.
Africa Day is a very important holiday for all who live in this continent. Wishing to see Africa as a peaceful, prosperous and democratic continent, young men and girls come to study in Russia - this idea was in the focus of all the speeches. The youth of Free Africa declares itself in the whole world louder and louder, amazing us with their extraordinary talents, active position of a citizen, contribution to peace on Earth! And young people who graduated from Belgorod universities, of course, achieved great heights in their professional activities.
On May 25, the young generation of Africa could show off their talents - in this day BSTU held their traditional cultural exhibition representing the peoples of Africa. The organizers of this wonderful holiday were the employees of the Centre for International Education and Cooperation BSTU had a set of goals - to promote tolerance towards representatives of other nations, familiarity with the culture, traditions and customs of different countries.
The program opened with a minor exhibition, organized in the central hall of the main building. This action has become a kind of advertising festival, an invitation to dialogue. Josina Muhongo from Angola enthusiastically told everyone who were interested in the exposition of objects and traditions of African Day celebrations in her homeland: "This book tells about Augustino Neto - Angola's first president when the country got independence, he also studied in Russia. And here – a sculpture of a thinking man, a symbol of our country, because many people in Angola are thinking about their future. African Liberation Day is a national holiday, when people do not go to work in most African countries. On this day, festive celebrations are held, residents wear their national costumes. People are dancing and having fun ... "
Mambo Peary, Peary Clive, Fatoumata Muklabay - Students from Zambia are the future economists, and hope that the knowledge gained at the university, will enable them to modernize the economy of the country. At their exhibition table - the flag of the country, a colorful book, jewelry and money of the state – everything the guys cherish, and that reminds them of their own home.
Then the exhibition moved to the disco hall at the Students Art Centre, followed by a colorful performance. The opening ceremony was attended by the Deputy vice-rector for cultural and educational work O.V. Puchka.
Recently, the vocal group "Alliance" under the direction of Uruzmag Tandelov, won the regional contest "Student Spring", a prize winner of the festival "The Afghan wind." . The students performed the song "Evening on the roads" and "Nightingales", arrived in Russia recently some of them complete preparatory faculty for foreign citizens and others are just starting their first years at BSTU. However, they can already be called famous and titled!
One of the participants, Maina Emmanuel, president of Nigerian community in Belgorod, a future architect, shared his impressions: "I really like the holiday. This is an opportunity to communicate with the peers, to experience the atmosphere of his home. I am pleased to take part in this event. It is interesting and exciting ... Thanks to the organizers for the attention that they show to us! "
