A Visit to Uganda
Today BSTU representative, Evgeniy Kapustin, Director of the center of international education and cooperation met a Nobel Prize winner, Professor Tom Otiti and the manegerial staff of Makerere University. in Kampala, the capital city of Uganda.
In 2007 Professor Tom Otiti won the Nobel Prize for his immense contribution into the study of climate change and environmental protection.
The Parties have negotiated upon joint programs and further cooperation in academic mobility and research.
Professor Otiti offered a familiarization tour to acquaint the visitors with academic and research facilities at Makerere University. Particularly the Russian representatives were shown the laboratories and research centers.
In addition, Professor Otiti shared his current project, focused on information read-off from various objects by means of low-power laser beam.
In his turn, E.Kapustin made a presentation about Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov to professor Tom Otiti and administrative body of Makerere University.
In the course of the meeting the Parties have discussed the collaboration details and are planning to sign a cooperation agreement by May 29th.
On behalf of BSTU Chancellor, professor S. Glagolev, the Russian delegation addressed the invitation to profesor T. Otiti to visit BSTU.
