For a healthy lifestyle
BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov pays much attention to a healthy lifestyle of students. The university has more than 35 various sports sections, gyms, sports grounds, a stadium, tennis courts, swimming pool is soon be opened. BSTU campus is declared a smoking free zone. Last spring, our university won the All-Russian competition "The institution of a healthy lifestyle."
An important role in promoting a healthy lifestyle is paid to students’ meeting with health professionals.
Recently the foreign students attended a lecture delivered by D.A. Radchenko, a medical specialist working for a Regional Drug Dependency Clinic.
In a simple and accessible form Dmitry Radchenko spoke about the harmful effects to the body made by drugs, alcohol and smoking. The degradation of the individual, the weakening of the intellect, emotional scarcity, destruction of memory, loss of self-control, reduction of professional activity – these are the consequences of drug and alcohol abuse. The lecturer spoke about the dangers of smoking. Today, this addiction among young people threatens the health of the nation.
Great resonance in the audience was caused by slides, depicting the destructing insides of drug addicts. Dmitry Radchenko also spoke about students ' responsibility, if the fact of taking illicit drugs has been proved.
In conclusion, the doctor-psychiatrist responded to questions from the audience.
